we are getting a load of orders refunded for no apparent reason
well the reason we get in the email is "not as described"
we get no notification from the customers about this just instant refunds from amazon
we sell sweets and crisps and the products are exactly as described on the listings and there is no reason for customers to get a refund
why does amazon just instantly refund someone without the customer contacting us?
why do we have to put up with this loss of income?
is there any way to stop this?
crazy!
Have you checked the listings?
Has someone else amended the listings and/or images?
If not are the orders from the same buyer/s or geographically close together? perhaps word has got round that your items are non returnable once opened and it is an easy way to get free products.
No way! you are a FBA seller, then you have to put up with it. The reason is simple that your customers were most likely attracted by other products or regreted placing the order. Man, this is how capitalism works. Buyers or sellers, one side or both getta take the loss for indirect loss made by a platform.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Amazon where online shoplifting is rife and the only losers are Sellers.
We stopped FBA a few years ago its just not worth it due to the refunds.
We self fulfill and we get returns as expected, however the products are missing.
Is it particular listings?
As an example your ASIN B00O32K9F2 says 30 bags of 34g but the picture is 30g - most people dont care but it would be seen as 'not as described' by a bot
Not sure why they're not coming through to you for refunds though if fbm, have you checked your return settings?
We get this daily now! At least 3 a day as Item not described and a full refund to the customer without an explanation! Check back on the packing station CCTV to make sure item was sent correctly and 99% it has been! Send evidence to Amazon and ask for proof there side and get nothing back! Its a real Scam and Amazon really need to sort it and stop refunding these scammers!
Did Amazon insist that the customer returns the product?
Or are they allowed to keep and enjoy the product?
If the product is returned, then the customer is within their rights (even if you are unable to resell the product).
However, if the product is left for the customer to enjoy, then that is a Amazon business decision, not a customer right - and you may be able to challenge this.
why does amazon just instantly refund someone without the customer contacting us?
Answer: It's not their money.
why do we have to put up with this loss of income?
Answer: We don't
is there any way to stop this?
Answer: Yes stop selling on Amazon
This has been discussed over & over for years. Amazon's Fat Cats know that their CS is broken (intentionally in my opinion as it's suits the narrative)
They also know that as much as sellers complain, they will still list because the alternatives aren't much better.
Until a platform comes along with a level playing field for buyers & sellers (not holding my breath) nothing will change apart from a mass protest by sellers but again that relies on widespread support from fellow sellers.
All hail to Amazon is our experience.
They do what they want and get away with it. As long as the customer is happy but what Amazon forget is that we are their customers and they are not serving us well at all.
Do you know any other business who can get away with removing money from your bank account to refund a customer who is most likely not being truthful and you can prove it but they will not listen.
I'm guessing this behaviour you describe only happens with Amazon and no other website?
The only answer is for sellers to leave Amazon. It's the only way if you want to stop losing money to these customers.
What you could do is create a flyer / leaflet and attach it to each packet saying thanks for shopping & that you’re a family business and really value every customer, so thank them.
Understand you’re probably not a family business, but I imagine this would make people feel guilty about essentially nicking your products and I believe you’d get a lower amount of people scamming you like you’ve explained.
We sell adult products and have the same return policy and it costs us an arm and a leg but our profits still make Amazon a great option.
is there any way to stop this? NO
And welcome to Amazon, the customer is always right even when scamming and the seller is always wrong
