Transaction Type - Commingling VAT (FBA)

Has anyone noticed these transactions on their payments reports?

I have noticed since 23rd July.

Normally it shows 2 entries per transaction (a debit and a credit) - and usually it evens out, but sometimes there is a penny difference (in my favour).

The transactions are listed under “Filter View - Other”, when looking at “Transaction View”

I’ve looked this up once before and found nothing. Today, I tried again and have found what I think is a good answer.

If you participate in the Amazon commingling program, then your inventory can be swapped with Amazon or another seller. There are two parts of this transaction:

  • You sell your inventory to the other party.
  • You buy an identical inventory item from the other party.

Both the sale and the purchase are VAT rated. The amounts should be identical and so these charges should cancel each other out. However, if there is a small difference, then it might indicate the transaction involved someone who was charged a different rate of VAT. This might be because they are in another country, or any number of other reasons.

You can find general and specific information in your Seller Central account. Click through REPORTS -> TAX DOCUMENT LIBRARY -> AMAZON COMMINGLING VAT CALCULATION. Each month should have four documents:

  1. A .csv file providing transaction details for Amazon as the seller of the inventory.
  2. A .csv file providing transaction details for you as the seller of the inventory.
  3. A .pdf file showing the summary of Amazon’s charges as the seller of the inventory.
  4. A .pdf file showing the summary of your charges as the seller of the inventory.

This confused me for a while, but I think I have the correct understanding now.

Cheers!
