Outrageous FBA Storage Fees

My storage fees have slowly been going up to an astronomical amount. My storage is small and only at 40% capacity, but in the past 5 months, I've been charged random amounts every two weeks that add up to $2,052.61! I sell baseball hats, so they are a small item and this makes no sense to me. Over the past year, the charges have gone up and become more frequent. In total, I've been charged almost $2,800. I'm being charged every 2 weeks for normal storage fees around $60 on top of long term storage fees every 2 weeks that started at $180 and quickly moved up to $450. In just the past 4 weeks, I've been charged $1,146 in storage fees. Every time I get someone from Amazon Seller on the phone, I'm told they can't help me, but I'll be transferred to someone who can, and then the call is disconnected. Not sure what to do. This is absurd and feels like fraud!

Hi @Seller_wKjViWn70ilQ8,

Dominic from Amazon here, would like to try to assist with this. I was able to take a look at the account and see these charges are coming from Long-Term/Aged Inventory Storage Fees.

Aged inventory surcharge (previously known as the long-term storage fee) is charged on inventory units stored in Amazon fulfillment network for 181 days and above.

Aged inventory fee rates are higher than normal monthly storage fees. Use the FBA Inventory tool to identify which ASINs are subject to the aged inventory surcharge, including ASINs that would be subject to the fee within 60 days. On FBA Inventory, you can locate and filter your inventory by the amount of time it has been in the fulfillment center. This information can help you estimate the number of items that will have been in a fulfillment center for more than 181 days by the next inventory cleanup date.

  • Active management of older inventory can help you avoid the aged inventory surcharge. To remove older inventory before the next inventory cleanup date, consider one of the options below.
  • Mark down and sell through Amazon Outlet: Setting up a deal through Amazon Outlet can help you sell through older inventory. An Outlet deal is a promotional offer with a minimum discount of 20%. To learn more, go to About Amazon Outlet.
  • Submit a removal or disposal order: If you submit a removal or disposal order for inventory before the cleanup date, that inventory won’t incur an aged inventory surcharge, even if it isn’t physically removed before the cleanup date. The deadline for submitting a removal order is 11:59 p.m. (PT) on the 14th of the month.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Best,

Dominic

If you have slow selling items, Amazon is going to slap you with large long term storage fees. During 4th quarter storage fees are 3x or 4x the rest of the year.

Go look at each of your items with long term storage and verify the dimensions of the product(s). If they are incorrect ask for a cubiscan and refund of your storage fees.

Some of us have removed slow sellers from FBA in favor of not selling them here, or doing FBM. Totally a business decision.
