EU EORI number for Brexit
Hi,
It is now definite that anyone selling on PAN-EU will need an EU EORI number to continue to sell in Europe after the transition period comes to an end on 31st December.
Has anyone found how to do this yet? The only ways seem to be to have a business address within the EU, or to pay a fiscal representative (e.g. I’ve seen someone on here say that his tax advisor said that to do this via Poland is €5000 - I’m not sure if this is a one off, or annual fee).
Also, some of my products are assembled in the UK. Does anyone know how much it costs to ship pallets from the UK to the EU? I am trying to work out if it is worth me continuing with EU sales even though they make up around 1/3 to 1/4 of my sales.
Thanks, Damian

Hi,
I am UK based with a GB EORI number. I am VAT registered in the 7 EU countries for Amazon Pan-Euro.
I applied for an EU EORI number directly from Belgium last week. The reason being I currently import to there, and because their government website explained the process very easily.
They replied to my email application within 3 days with an EU EORI number which is valid throughout the EU. The email says I should continue to use my GB EORI until the transition period is over. They have also linked my 7 VAT numbers to the BE EORI number.
Website link is here, and is very easy. There was no cost to do this, and no legal representation required.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Omar

Thats not quite how I read it, we don’t need one at present but will do from 1st Jan 21 if we wish to move goods from the UK into the EU, this will be a GB EORI which can be obtained from gov.uk website https://www.gov.uk/eori
Moving goods within EU member states will not require an EORI unless the goods are moved outside of the EU (not within EU member states) ?
So to move goods from say Germany to UK would need the EU EORI but not within the Internal EU market.

Hi as mentioned above is spot on, we needed to apply due to where we were importing and exporting from originally but just applied on gov.uk straight forward enough.

As I understand it, our GB EORI numbers will not be valid in the EU from 1st Jan next year. So if I’m sending my goods from China to an EU fulfillment centre (or to the UK and then to an EU fulfillment centre), I’ll need to complete a customs declaration when the goods are imported into the EU, and for this I’ll need an EU EORI number.
This is the section which very briefly alludes to this on the .gov website link from above:
“You’ll need an EU EORI number if your business will be making customs declarations or getting a customs decision in the EU. Get this from the customs authority in the EU country where you submit your first declaration or request your first decision.”
I sincerely hope I’m wrong about this, as getting an EU EORI number seems to be a pain.

Here’s the European Guidance on this:

Hi, Chris from Tide Global should be able to help answer any queries you have regarding global storage and shipping including FBA import/export.
He is a friendly approachable businessman in Essex, his website is: https://www.tideportal.com/global/
We have worked with him quite closely hence I can recommend him if you want to send him an email I am sure he will give you some advice and possibly even costings for shipping pallets from UK to EU.
Good luck with it all.

I am not sure how strict they will be with that, but all documents says you should register in the country where you first make a declaration.
We do make declarations in Belgium, so should be okay. Otherwise, I would probably just send a test package to do first clearance in Belgium, then the EORI would be active throughout the EU.
If the process for getting an EORI in another country is not costly or hard, then that would be the better option. I just wasn’t getting anywhere when trying the pan EU countries.

So if we get a Belgium EORI, so you import goods into EU countries after brexit?
Just some throughts, come post brexit will it be easy sending stock into France fulfilment centre’s from the UK to almost continue PAN-EU? also how will you get the option to send to a France FBA Centre, as you normally don’t have a choice in the UK?
Thanks.

I think Amazon have got themselves very confused! I’ve asked seller support if it’s possible to use PanEU without PL and CZ VAT registrations. Their response was it’s fine and stock might be stored in PL and CZ but:
“No need for this [VAT registrations in PL and CZ], as fulfillment center in Poland and CZ are part of Germany.”
@NEil - Any comment?

I’ve also found companies in both France and Germany who can apply for an EU EORI number on my behalf but I will only receive this after 1st Jan 2021 because you are only allowed 1 EU EORI number at any one time, and our UK EORI number currently counts as an EU EORI number until 31st December 2020.
I don’t really like the idea of placing an order from China to be sent straight to a fulfillment centre in France/Germany etc without having the EU EORI in place.
