Reverse refund given to buyer

I sold an item months ago. All seemed well. Last week the buyer contacted me to say he’d never received the item. Obviously this was a very late notification of a non-receipt, however because I see myself as an honourable seller I refunded the full amount. A day or so later the buyer contacted me to say he had found the item I’d sent, and he’d ask for a refund in error. How do i claim my money back from him?
THanks

The correct way for this to happen is for the buyer to telephone Amazon with the order ID and request a card recharge.
That does not always run smoothly though as sometimes the buyer can’t get his message across to the CS rep and they fail to process the recharge.
The alternative method is for the buyer to reorder, on the understanding that although you will mark the order as shipped nothing will actually be sent [unless you post an empty envelope with tracking to satisfy the Amabots].

Your buyer will need to contact the Amazon Customer Service and request them to recharge their card for the order ID, as no one from Amazon will call them on your behalf.

However, be prepared that it is very common for them to simply forward the request to the seller, therefore making it impossible.

In such case, I often have to arrange a different solution with the buyer, for example advising them to place a new order which won’t be shipped but used as a compensation for the refunded purchase.

Just to support that both Adrian and Kika have said. Under no circumstances attempt to arrange payment outside of Amazon’s systems, because if discovered by Amazon will lead to a suspension or your account being deactivated.
