Our Business dissolved, the account deactived but it was linked to another valid account under a different company

Hello,

Our seller account was deactivated because our business was dissolved. We had no concern about that as we don’t want to sell on Amazon anymore and just want to leave it as it is.

However, our neibouring company came to us and said that their account was also deactivated. We then figured out that ours accounted were linked because at some point, we used the same Internet environment, and their reigistered address on Amazon was silimar to ours. This was because our companies were on the same floor, same building, only next door to each other. They once borrowed our Wifi and their laptop remembered it and somehow might automatically connected to it with their account logged on.

In short, our accounts are now related and both deactivated, and they want to get their account reactivated.

So we logged back on our seller account and answered the questions that we received from the Amazon Payments team. They asked 3 questions:

-Clarify the current status of your company–our answer:dissolved+the date of dissolution
-Clarify if you intend to use selling on Amzon–our answer: No
-Clarify if you would like to register with another active business–our answer: No

Then we received a reply: In short, “in 40 days you will still have access to your account, after that no more access. If you want to appeal, reply within 30 days.” In conclusion, no way to reactivate our account.

Our neighbouring company tried to appeal from their side as well, but was told they need to get the related account reactivated first.

So we sort of ended up in a dead loop. We cannot reactivate our account because our business is dissolved, and therefore our neighbour company cannot get their account reactivated either.

Has any one faced the same situation before and have any idea how our neighbour company can get their account back?

PS: additional information that might be useful:

  1. Our companies are entirely different independant companies.
  2. The neighbouring company is in a valid status and their account has always maintained a good performance level.
  3. Our company’s main business is in other online markets. We opened this Amazon seller account but NEVER used it to ever sell anything. We never had a single listing or inventory. It’s a totally blank piece of paper.
  4. Our neighbour company mentioned all the above information in their appeal and clearly stated the root cause of 2 accounts being related and deactivated, how they would address the issue like protect their account security, have a separate wifi, and future plans like how they will have staff meeting to make sure everyone knows the rules etc. But the appeal was rejected and Amazon customer service said they needed to address the issue in the related account first.

I’ve previously said I thought shared WiFi could link accounts - but others have said they definitely don’t (unless the same device was used - maybe the laptop) therefore, there must be another link between the 2 businesses

If both are the equivalent of ltd companies, I don’t think registered address should be an issue - going on the thousands registered at UK virtual addresses which leaves links with -
Residential addresses
Directors
Phone numbers
Credit card

Do both accounts share any of those ?

Or , an employee of both businesses logging into both accounts on same device

Do you happen to sell similar products or have sold on the same ASINS?

Hello @Guangzhou_Shunqi_Tra,

It’s very nice of you to ask on your neighbouring company’s behalf, but given the nature I would recommend that they reach out to Seller Support themselves.

Hello,

Thank you everyone for your answers. If it is not the Wifi then it must have been the devices we used to log in to our accounts. We did at some point used the same laptop to login our accounts. When we first started selling on Amazon, we (I and the neighbour company’s owner) tried to figure out a few things we did not understand together. We had no idea that we are not allowed to log in our accounts on any PC. In fact ,I might have logged in my account in over a dozen of devices, home, office, internet cafe PCs, Hotel PCs, my friends’ PC etc. :frowning:

Yesterday the neighbour company sent an explanation letter with the above information to appeal. Now they await Amazon’s response.

As I mentioned in my post previously, I did try to appeal via my account, but the Amazon payments team gave me a final decision that, as my business is dissolved, they cannot allow to reactivate or delete my account. So to speak my account will be permanently deactivated.
