Amazon Ownership Account Change Question

by Seller_xYxP0X5gtODCh

Hello,

I want to know if it's possible to change the ownership of Amazon Account as my dad is transferring the business over to me. We work on the business together and log on to the same account. Currently the Amazon account is setup under my dad's name but he wants to transfer it to me the son? Is it possible for me to do this and submit new verification documents using the same account we have or do I need to create a new Amazon selling account? Please let me know. Thank you.

Per this support page:

"Seller accounts generally are not transferable. Seller accounts provide access to the tools and resources that sellers use to list their products and manage their orders. Seller accounts also include account activity history and buyer feedback. Every seller on Amazon must have a seller account and an agreement with Amazon that establishes the terms under which the seller lists and sells their products.

If the ownership of a business changes for any reason, the new owner must establish a new seller account.

If the ownership of a business is not changed, but the individuals responsible for managing the seller account have changed, you can add users to the account. For more information, see Set User Permissions."

Unless your father is actually a corporation with a board of directors what @Seller_f4a7xAPCCSMqDoffered is 100% correct.

Amazon gets people to put YEARS into building a 'viable business' on here but gives them no guidance up front (unless your father was the one in 1000 that actually read the agreement and just forgot this part) about the fact that this 'business' will die with them.

It's not a traditional bait and switch but it is just as reprehensible but done by their attorneys!

Hello @Seller_xYxP0X5gtODCh,

Thank you for posting your inquiry to the Forums.

@Seller_f4a7xAPCCSMqD is correct, if the ownership of a business changes for any reason, the new owner must establish a new seller account.

I have included a help page that details how to set and edit user permissions on an account.

I have also included a help page below that detail Amazon's policy on multiple accounts. I would suggest reviewing this if you intend on creating a new selling account to ensure that there is no policy violation.
