Editing variation theme / bulk editing

Hi,

I know I’m going over well trodden ground here but searching through the forum and Amazon Seller University videos and I’m drawing a blank.

I get that to do bulk editing you need to download an Inventory Template specific to the category of products you’re selling. I also get that you can download an inventory report with all of your products. It’s marrying the two together that’s causing me confusion.

Obviously the Inventory Template has many more columns for data than the downloaded inventory report has, so my queries are:

A) Is there a way to download the Inventory Template with all of the columns pre-filled with currently listed inventory including the parent listings, or do you have to copy and paste from the downloaded inventory report?

B) If not, what is the minimum amount of information needed on the Inventory Template to make an amendment. For example if I just want to change the price do I just need to complete the Seller SKU and Product ID column, put in the correct price and then state in the relevant column that it’s a Partial Update?

C) To make an amendment to the Inventory Theme (i.e changing from size variation only to size and colour variation) are you able to amend the parent listing using file upload or do you just delete the parent listing in Seller Central and create a new one via upload?

D) If you can amend the parent listing using file upload, is there a way of getting the parent information from the Inventory Reports? I only seem to be able to get information on the child products as they’re obviously the ‘physical’ products I’m selling.

I think my confusion stems from the fact that a few years ago I began having issues with a number of my listings. I logged a case with support and they provided me with an Inventory Template report with all my parent and child listings with all columns completed (what I’m referring to in question A). I could then do a bulk upload with the necessary amendments. The instructions they gave at the time are no longer applicable due to the many Seller Central changes over the years. Not sure if this is something that is available to us as sellers or if it was only ever something Amazon Support could provide?

Apologies for the over long post but if anyone can help me out I’ll be extremely grateful.

Cheers,

John
