Safety Data Sheet for Wax Melts
Hi,
I have started selling wax melts and so far so good or so I thought until Amazon has asked me for a SDS for one of the products, I therefore sent over the link for the SDS for the fragrance used in the wax melt from the supplier I used and can provide the Soy Wax information aswell if needed, but it’s not good enough because it does not have my company name on it and the listings title didn’t match the name on the SDS.
So what would you do in this case as wax melts are available practically everywhere and I gave the information so it listed what was in them and as I made them using that websites stuff, I do not have my own version of a SDS, would you just edit the SDS by changing their name with your company name as at the end of the day your info should be exactly the same as their info on the SDS.
Or is there another way around this issue?
I make these myself from my home. So they are all handmade.
Thanks

Thats fraud & would likely lead to suspension.
Think you would need to get your own SDS done for the product as a whole not its contents

Your SDS isn’t the same as just the SDS for the components of a product.
When you mix things together they don’t always just form a compound, they can create new chemical bonds that can change them completely.
E.g.
Hydrogen = Explosive Gas
Oxygen = Corrosive Gas
Mix them together in the right proportions, using the right methods, and you get ‘Water’ which definitely doesn’t explode, although it does still corrode.
The SDS for Water clearly wouldn’t cover either of it’s components.
And mix a similar batch with some Sulfur in it, and you can end up with Sulfuric Acid that has entirely different properties agin.
You’re effectively manufacturing a new product, so that product needs a separate SDS.
A product isn’t just the sum of its parts, especially when you’re dealing with chemicals.
I’m not suggesting that your wax melts are explosive, acidic, or dangerous, but your SDS needs to confirm it.
E.g. Presumably your wax is not flammable, but your fragrance would be a type of oil, so may / may not be / might be under certain conditions?
So is the end-product flammable or not?

Yes I know I could be selling to businesses, but I have read up on it and the main concern with wax melts is the fragrance used, the wax and colouring is not hazardous itself. The only thing in that product is the fragrance and therefore the fragrance SDS is enough to show a business what chemcial fragrance is in that item. I have read up on it, this information is available on a few of the candle making sites I have read that supplier the fragrances and wax in their SDS and CLP information guide. So I’m going by what they are saying. If it’s incorret, then these Candlemaking suppliers are providing incorrect information

ou are a manufacturer and the responsible person.
You need to prove they are safe and not a health hazard or dangerous goods,
If Amazon want to see safety assessment for any goods sold on their marketplace, they are well within their rights to ask, and a responsible manufacturer would not object.
Really you shouldn’t be selling anything that does not have some sort of safety data sheet, this is a safety sheet that is yours, and every batch should have one. you should test your product thoroughly, A MSDS with full traceability of every ingredient you use, you should also have to hand one of each batch you create incase you need a product recall.
Hope this helps
