Royal mail is loosing too many parcels

I don’t understand how royal mail manages to misplaces so many of my parcels.. I have had about 10 customers complaining of not receiving parcels this month. I purchased most my labels through Amazon and they dont provide tracking. But either way 10 customers in 15 days is a bit too much

What should I do?

I have had a fair few complaints this month but only on Amazon.

I wouldn't assume it is Royal Mail.

If there is no tracking on the items then this can be a trigger for Amazon to send out messages to say the parcel is running late or lost. The buyer then asks for a refund based on this.

I have had a lot more than 10 complaints on Amazon this month plus a fair few A-Z's for non delivery. On ebay I have had just 1 complaint in the same period which suggests to me that it is more something with Amazon than Royal Mail.

I would agree with Direct_Gifts_Ltd.

We don't do fully untracked now but since we moved to Tracked 48 - the number of claims of lost parcels has significantly reduced. But when we did just do Royal Mail 48, it was only on amazon that you got regular claims of lost parcels.

This is almost certainly down to the emails amazon sends out that encourage the claims.

Yes, sadly too many customers now know how to play the system, and get a freebie and a refund. I'm not saying all, but sadly there are some customers who no longer have a conscience.

Basically its because Amazon actively encourages buyers to make claims even if they have received it

What postage are you buying through amazon that is not giving you tracking. Even 2nd class bpl on rm gives a delivery track so you can check. Also if its 10 items going amiss how many are you actually sending a week 10 from 1000 or 10 from 100 big difference.

I'd agree with you, we've received 7 A-Z claims for items not received over the past 2 weeks and many more emails from customers asking where their item is. We send ours RM48 so do have the delivery confirmation ref and have been able to check if received, which they haven't been. Have been able to claim refunds on the postage cost for items that have been 'lost'. We purchase our postage directly through Royal Mail C&D.

It is unusually high at the moment, the worst I think I think recall (other than during the strikes) I've been shipping via Royal Mail for past 10 years!

They dont go "missing" customers receive them and just play the sysytem. They know how Amazon works and so nothing you can do about it. Just increase prices to cover any losses from things like this.

Without knowing what percentage of total orders that ten represents, it's hard to tell how big a problem it is.

As another poster commented, 10 from 100,00 orders would not be all that significant but 10 from 100 would be.
