A+ Content Replace Product Description
I added A+ content to a few of my handmade products and the product descriptions disappeared. So if we use A+ content our product descriptions are removed from the top of the page above the bullet points and need to be added in the A+ content which is placed much lower on the page.
In my reading, it appears the A+ content may not be indexed for product search.
Not sure if adding the A+ content makes sense? Wondering what others have done results ect

That’s interesting. Can you let us know how it affects sales?

Yes, A+ content is instead of product description. However, bullets do remain. So use bullets keeping them short and sweet and the A+ content would have more details.
Yes, use the A+ content.
Titles and search terms are probably the primary search indexing items.
Optimize Product Discoverability
(yes description is mentioned in the link, but the headings are Titles, Keywords, and Search Terms)
Improve Product Details
(this link within the last has Images, Price, and Clear and Concise Bullet Points)
As more sellers are Brand Registered or waivered and using A+ content there are less and less product descriptions on the site.

I tried it and spent a significant amount of time creating what I thought were beautiful and informative images, etc…
Totally and completely tanked my best seller. I removed it after a few weeks trial.
Maybe it was me, because obviously Amazon pushes it hard to add it, saying it increases sales. But dang, I had a best seller and now its dead.

Thanks for all the helpful replies.
My sales were down a bit after adding the A+ content. However, I did not realize the product description would disappear. So I lost some sales ptich info that I could move to the bullet points.
I think I will try removing the A+ content and add The Brand Story

I got waivered in late Oct/Nov of '21. I immediately switched over to A+ content for “description”, added a Brand Story, and when finally had access to a Store I started that too.
Blue is this year and Orange is last year (and Sep is only half over and I close in Dec to work on what is sold end of Nov):
I only have a few products (5 ASINs) that I sell on Amazon and they are similar to each other. Perhaps A+ content suits that really well. I don’t know for sure. The better sales could be any number of things (and at the same time nothing I’ve done at all), but I know that I am not going back to descriptions. The A+ content has modules with hyperlinks that you can use to reference between similar products. I can better explain sizing with pictures and text in the A+ content than just text of descriptions. Having only bullet points at the top encouraged me to be short and to the point there while being able to say see below for more details.
Customers don’t read walls of text and if you read the above paragraph you’re in the minority group of buyers who do read things like product descriptions.

Yeah I don’t think the removal of the description is hurting sales, given how most don’t read at all. If you can’t fit everything you need to have them know in 5 bullets, well…then they need to know too much for amazon. I really don’t think the extra down-page stuff helps all that much.

Words in the Title and Search Terms are for SEO. A search engine doesn’t care about articles (a, an, the), conjunctions (since, because, so, if, besides, but) , verbs, sentence structure, and other things that need to be there for a human to get. That wall of text in a description is going to contain more of those things that are ignored than what is useful. You might have a few long tail keywords in that text, but that is the only useful things. If they are already in either the Title, Bullets, or Search Terms, have you added anything?
There was a useful tool (search term optimizer) that was with brand registry (including waiver) that showed if you had repeated terms between Title, Bullets, and Search Terms. What was in the description was not included in that tool.

One just needs to be aware if they and the A+ content their product descriptions will disappear. Make sure you have the info that was in the product description in your bullet points.
I had one product that I had a nice formatted product description with the basic HTML code to make a list that looked like bullet points and some bold words and no actual bullet points. So when I added the A+ content poof just a picture and a price.

I had this in mind with my first attempt at A+ content. Thank you for the heads up.
I changed some of the bullet points. They basically contain what was in my description before. I left up the description even though it doesn’t show on the page. I wonder if that will cause the bot to flag the page for duplication, or will keeping it that way help with Amazon CEO?
