Selling used Nintendo products
Hello all,
I’ve recently started an FBA account with the intention of selling a load of my gaming items. Over the years I have accumulated close to 500 different games, consoles and accessories that I would now like to sell. Amazon states that I need to request approval for Nintendo products but naturally I don’t have receipts for all these items. I understand that approval is to prevent fake items being sold but the only items I will be selling are genuine. I’ve asked Nintendo for permission but they haven’t replied (I know it was a long shot) but Amazon state they will also accept an invoice of 10 or more items from an authorised seller. Could I just purchase 10 low cost items from Nintendo and therefore get temporary clearance to sell all items or would it only be for those exact 10 items?
Just in case anyone is wondering, I know I could go to eBay but FBA really attracts me in that I can send it all to Amazon, I don’t need to take pictures and write descriptions and don’t need to spend ages shipping to each person. I’d really like to get this working.
Thanks in advance.

Generally getting ungated by prodiving invoices from a valid chain unlocks the ability to then list used items, provided the category itself allows used items which video games does. Do note though that a valid supply chain does not include you buying your items from another retailer - even if that is Nintendo.
Additionally, although i do FBA it is worth you being aware that there are storage charges so you should be only sending in items that make financial sense to do so.

There was also a thread on Thursday/ Friday where even long term sellers have also been told they can no longer sell playstations / games - not sure if Nintendo will soon follow ?!

Thank you for your replies. Just to clarify, what might count as a valid supply chain? I don’t think I could go to a wholesaler for Nintendo without spending huge money.
Also, that’s a very fair point. I guess I would evaluate how quickly some of it sells and decide to go from there. I’d imagine a lot of the consoles would go quite quickly but games might still be best on eBay…
The_Little_Shop, I’ve had a good search around this forum and you’re right, I think many people have been screwed over by this but by the looks of it, much of it happened in the last year or two so perhaps the damage has already been done. Saying that, Sony definitely made that change on Friday as I sent up some of my Playstation items when I was allowed and two days later I was told by Amazon they’re now stranded as I don’t have permission! Crazy.

I assume you have an individual account, not a business one, so Amazon would question these recent invoices as your would clearly not be selling off you own used and unwanted items

The PlayStation issue relates to Sony Consoles, but only PUBLISHED games. So your GTAs, CODS, FIFAs, Tomb Raiders, Assassins Creeds and the like are fine …
You may find that the Nintendo issue relates to Nintendo PUBLISHED games. Have a look through your 500 games and try some out.
Do you have any problems with these ?

If you were to buy 10 Nintendo items from an authorised distributor, you would effectively unlock the entire gated category, so no, your approval would not just be for whatever products the invoice shows, it would be for all products by that brand / manufacturer. The issue would be whether it would be financially worth it …

Honestly I think that’s pretty fair cynicism. However, after I have Sony and Nintendo unbarred then there’s potentially only Microsoft to go so that’s me two thirds of the way. Still, perhaps you’re right. I’ve emailed a few wholesalers and will decide on whether this is a good idea based on their response. I believe there’s other fulfilment services that I could likely combine with eBay like fulfilmentcrowd.com but that too I’d have to look in to. It’s more work and cost but it helps with the issue of only being free in the evenings and weekends to ship items.
If I can get permission/ buy from a wholesaler then I will definitely switch over to a seller account. 35 items a month isn’t enough, I’d like to hit it hard over a month and get all the items sent to Amazon.
Everyone_Has_One, you’re absolutely right with those games - they’re all fine. Thanks for the info. Sadly II can can’t list the higher value items like my Wii U, Gamecube etc…
