Selling to Portugal

I sold a book to Portugal and I plastered the IOSS number and Amazon was responsible for the VAT all over the parcel and on the invoice.

The buyer tells me he had to pay the VAT again and also had to fill in a very onerous form ( for which they charged him 4 euros) to retreive his book.

The filling in the form really upset my buyer.

Any one else had this experience?

Did you also do it electronically through your courier ?

Writing the IOSS number on the parcel will do you no good at all. The IOSS system operates purely electronically.

I just took it to the post office. They did nothing but put a paid label on it

It appears the answer is to put on the parcel a Royal Mail IOSS sticker.

In the market place space you enter Amazon and enter the IOSS number below.

You get the counter staff to enter the IOSS number on the receipt.

You then send an invoice to the customer with the Amazon IOSS number on the invoice.

If the buyer has a problem he/she presents the invoice to the courier which should release the parcel.
