Accidentally closed my shop
I really could scream at some of the Amazon processes and how easy it is to do things by mistake
Today I was wondering whether to close my shop and pressed the button where it says close shop. Now some of you are going to say I brought it on myself. But I honestly thought the button would lead me or warn to read more about it as I don’t know the process or the charges and terms and conditions.
Now it closed my shop and deactivated all my market place listings.
I have rung and chatted with Amazon to get it back open and it’s warning me that the shop fees will be taken again although I have paid this months on the 5th March.
Also it mentions VAT. I don’t earn enough to pay VAT and up to now Amazon have accepted my UTR number from the Inland Revenue.
If I try entering it now it says it’s not valid. So I really have mucked everything up for something that could have been unavoidable.
It’s so easy to do and wanting to warn others. It’s like the Prime thing, sometimes trying to avoid clicking prime when shopping.

Hi Binnie,
Thanks for your post.
When you selected to close your account the automated system will have set your listings to inactive by putting your account on vacation. You can remove this by navigating to the Account Info page and click Going on Holidays?, you will see the status of each of your marketplaces.
If you have had orders in the last 90 days and funds due to you in your account, the account will not be automatically closed. Seller accounts cannot be closed until 90 days after the last order.
In regards to the pro-merchant selling fee, you will not be charged a second time. Double check your account info page and the section Your Services by clicking on Manage. You can check if your account is being downgraded due to the close request. If is set to downgrade it will be displayed and the date that it will be fully downgraded.
I am unsure as to where you are being prompted to add VAT but you would need to log into the account to review this.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Jessica

Could’ve been a lot worse - how does a nice 6 month verification sound?
