Items missing from shipment list

What is the standard outcome when you send a shipment and accidentally don't add something the shipment list but add a barcode to the item? I know it's a rookie mistake but have recently done this and the items are never added to my inventory. I know i added the seller barcode as I have them all saved. Surely the DC should see the item in my inventory and add it? I have raised tickets but they all get dismissed.
