We have 39 stuck in pending since 9.13am that are FBM Premium Next Day shipping. Will Amazon advise these customers why they wont be getting their orders tomorrow as Amazon system is broken - hell no it will be our fault and metrics/feedback that takes the hit. Usual poor service from the worlds leading online retailer and no updates or acknowledgements on home page

But if we cannot ship them in time we will lose prime and then have to submit a POA. This could take days to get prime back.

I do completely understand. Once this is rectified we will let you know.

Amazon will try not to affect.

So we will not lose prime if we are unable to ship them due to them all coming through late?

We cannot assure please confirm us if you face any difficulty.

In fairness to the forum mods, they are busy working out the next "feel good" topic.
My guess is "What is the worst present you expect to receive this Xmas?"
As a minimum, we expect a banner notification in the Manage Orders page stating "Houston, we have a problem!".

Appears to be working now...

I love the way Amazon keep completely silent when things like this happen.

Now getting some of the newer pending orders coming through.
No sign of the ones from earlier on today which are probably more urgent as they may need to go today.

After 3 messages back and forth with seller support the orders now seem to be processing

Some of ours from those hours are starting to come through now. I'm guessing they'll all come through in next couple of hours.

It's about time Amazon stopped this stupid pending order nonsense. When a customer places an order charge their card straight away and if it doesn't go through tough luck you don't get to sit with an item stuck doing nothing for a week. Boo hoo Amazon might have to pay some extra card authorisation charges when a customer wants to cancel an order. It drives me crazy

Ours are finally coming through now. We have different cut-offs for different couriers and these are getting applied at the time Amazon releases from pending, so the early cut-off ones show as needing to ship tomorrow, even though they were placed hours ago.

Of all the more recent orders I've placed as a customer payment has been taken in seconds. When I've used my phone I get a bank notice that money has been taken as soon as the order is placed.

Same, but we still have the oldest ones showing as pending. We always get one or two but this is a block of several placed around the same time.

I'm pretty sure it's there to give the buyer a 30 minute window to cancel the order without needing someone to manually approve the cancellation. The buyer does get charged straight away, then Amazon holds the money until the seller confirms dispatch.
Seller_76AUwmqvSyRIM
You are correct about the cancellation window but wrong on the money issue.
Amazon pre-authorises your card (if they can) when you place the order but does not take the money until the order is marked as despatched. There is no argument about this, it is a fact. Payments declined by the card company are not pre-authorised and stay in pending until the payment pre-authorisation is allowed by the bank or the order is auto-cancelled or cancelled by the buyer.
You might receive a notification on your phone that your card has been charged but this is not strictly true, it's just an authorisation or a reservation for payment.
