Anyone having trouble getting Grey Mailing bags from Royal Mail

Has anyone successfully managed to us the Royal Mail online ordering system to get grey mail bags delivered to their business. We usually ask our local postie to get some for us but she has been off work since before Christmas so we have had to resort to ordering online. The online system seems to work OK if you need tags or small items but we have been trying since 29th December to get them to deliver mail bags to us . A friend of ours who has an account with RM has had the same issue . Wondered if anyone else has actually managed to get any delivered?

Strange as we never really have an issue and we order 300 (the max allowed) was a slight delay towards end of December one we did but they did arrive. Our last lot came about 3 days later after ordering. Wonder if it’s a local thing.

The grey bags are brought manually by a postman/woman from the delivery office unlike all other mail supplies, it’s probably the lowest priority for them right now

Just go to your local delivery office and ask for some, I just take what I need and they are fine with it

I use it all the time and they generally get delivered in a few days.

Our account manager said if your a low level seller then go to the DO to get them. If your are a high seller that need the QTY then order online as they come from the main centre.

Maybe try ordering the full 300 and see what happens.

We got told by our postman not to bother ordering online and to leave him a note when we want any and he’ll drop them off within a few days. Works well, he drops of 2 sacks full of bags whenever we need them.

Might be worth catching your regular collection driver and asking if they can sort you out with some?

Hi, Best to go to your local Royal Mail Main Depot. They have bags of them there and we usually pick up enough to last a month with no problem.

Ask whoever collects your mail to ask the despatcher at the sorting office to deliver some next day. The problem is there is so much delayed in the depots there is now a shortage, as they are full in the depots.

Otherwise chat them up for the phone number of the local sorting office on the quiet and call them like you have done it before loads of times, and ask them for a “favour”

It’s like getting blood from a stone.

Our delivery driver never has any so we have a system;

  • Order 100 sacks from RM Shop Online every 7 days and and add the order number to a text file.

  • After 7 days when they invariably never arrive we fill in the complaint form and attach the list of order numbers.

  • When a delivery finally arrives we knock off the order number from the bottom of the list and keep complaining every week about the others.

  • Once a week we have two members of staff who pass different sorting offices on the way in to work and they each grab a couple of bags from there as well.

It’s an absolute joke of a system.

My local post office is always willing to give me a few until the main delivery arrives.
