You are selling bladed products?
FBM or FBA?
If FBA then you must apply for Hazmat approval
If FBM then you MUST use an age verified delivery service.
And what “bladed” products are you attempting to sell anyway, as a very great many will be prohibited.

"Bladed Products guidelines

Listing guidelines for bladed products

Listing guidelines for bladed products

Please see how to correctly list and ship permitted bladed products on the Amazon.co.uk Marketplace below.

  1. If you are selling bladed products through the Merchant-Fulfilled Channel:

Please refer to our Bladed products policy for the Merchant-Fulfilled channel

If you plan to sell one of the six types of bladed products permitted through the Merchant-Fulfilled channel, you must meet the requirements set out in Table A below in order to list these products.

Table A: Permitted bladed products through the Merchant Fulfilled Channel

Permitted ProductsKnife flag required?Must be shipped with a permitted age verification on delivery service?Category in which it must be listed
(i) Razor blades permanently enclosed in a cartridge or housing with less than 2 mm of blade exposedNoNoAt seller’s discretion depending on the product
(ii) Folding blades of less than 3 inches), which are not capable of being locked openYesYes
(iii) Kitchen KnivesYesYesHome
(iv) Folding blades of less than 3 inches that are part of a multi-tool deviceYesYesHome, Sports, Home Improvement, Lawn and Garden
(v) Knives included in ordinary cutlery sets with spoons and forksNoNoHome
(vi) Electric carving knivesYesYesKitchen

It is your responsibility to ensure that you and your products comply with all applicable laws and with Amazon.co.uk policy. Amazon may remove the products that do not comply with the law or Amazon policies or listing guidelines.

How can I ensure that I am meeting all the above requirements?

  • Flagging : If bladed products you are already listing or would like to list require a knife flag (as set out in Table A) and have not already been flagged, you will need to flag your ASINs. Please click here to follow the process for flagging your ASINs. If the Flag has been successfully added to your product, you will see the following message on the ASIN page: "The bladed product is not for sale to people under 18 years. A signature will be required on delivery. See details.”
  • Delivery : If a bladed product you are listing against has a knife flag (as set out in Table A), you will need to ship the product with a permitted age verification on delivery (AVD) service and upload the tracking details for each product shipped to Seller Central.

Permitted AVD services : The following carriers can be used to ship age-restricted bladed products with an AVD service: UPS and Yodel. We may amend this list from time to time. We will notify you of any changes made by e-mail. You will need to provide evidence of the agreement you have with your carrier, showing your products will be shipped using an AVD service. You may redact commercially sensitive information. Evidence to show that you are shipping all age-restricted products with AVD can be in the form of one of the following two pieces of information: 1) a contract between you and your carrier stating that all orders will be delivered with an AVD service 2) a statement from your carrier stating that all age-restricted orders will have a tracking number, which shows that the product has been delivered with an AVD service. Please submit this evidence to avd-carrier-confirmation@amazon.co.uk.

Uploading tracking information : There are two ways to upload tracking information for each age-restricted bladed product you ship - see below for a step-by-step overview of each:

1. When confirming orders one by one:

  1. Locate the order in **Manage Orders** and click **Confirm Shipment** .
  2. On the **Confirm Dispatch** page, enter the **Ship Date** , **Delivery Method** (including the carrier information), and the **Tracking ID** (supplied by the carrier).
  3. Enter any special notes about the order in the **Seller memo** field.
  4. Click **Confirm Dispatch** .

More details on how to confirm shipments individually can be found here
2. Confirming multiple orders at the same time using Delivery Confirmation templates:

  1. Download and save the [Shipping Confirmation template](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/01/rainier/help/ff/release_1_4/Flat.File.ShippingConfirm._TTH_.xls), a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
  2. Enter the dispatch information into the template.
  3. Save the spreadsheet as a tab-delimited text file.
  4. Upload the text file to Amazon.co.uk.
  5. Confirm that the upload was successful.

More details on how to confirm multiple shipments at the same time can be found here.

  • Categorisation : When creating new bladed ASINs on the Amazon.co.uk marketplace you must ensure that your product is listed in the correct category (as per Table A above). You can ensure the correct categorisation of new ASINs in two ways:

    1. In bulk : If you are creating new ASINs in bulk, add the relevant product type to the ‘Feed Product Type’ field in the relevant ‘Flat File’. Please refer to Table B below for ‘Feed Product Type’ mappings to the relevant categories.
    2. One by one : If you are creating ASINs manually in Seller Central (under" Inventory’→’Add a Product’), pick the relevant ‘Product Category’ from the ‘All Product Categories’ list. Please see Table B below for ‘Product Category’ mappings to the relevant categories.

If you need to change the category of an existing bladed ASIN, you can update each ASIN’s category in the following ways:

* If you have created the ASIN: Use the" **In bulk** " method described above.
* If you have not created the ASIN: Please raise a case with Seller Support to update the ASIN's 'Product_Type'/'Product Category 'accordingly. **Table B: Category mappings to Product types/Product categories**
CategoryFeed Product Type (in bulk - flat file); Product Category (one by one - seller central)
HomeBedAndBath, FurnitureAndDecor, Home

Lawn & GardenOutdoor Living, Seeds and Plants

Note: If you are selling products that do not contain blades but show a blade in the product image, e.g. shaving/razor paraphernalia, clearly state that no blades are sold with the product in the listing title. Our system might flag certain products for removal if they appear to contain blades and are not marked with the “knife flag”.

  1. If you are selling bladed products on Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA):

Please see our bladed products policy for the Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) channel on the following pages:

No bladed products can be sold through the FBA channel, apart from the two exceptions below. Please note the two exceptions, which we permit through the FBA channel (summarised in Table C below).

FAQS

What is Age Verification on Delivery (AVD)?

AVD is where the carrier delivering the product to the customer checks that the person receiving the product is over the legal age required to purchase the products in question. This is done in 2 ways:

  1. A signature is required for all units dispatched via AVD by the carrier.
  2. The ‘Challenge 25’ methodology is applied to all deliveries.

What is the ‘Challenge 25’ methodology?

Challenge 25 'is where a person who looks below the age of 25, is challenged to provide identification to prove they are over the age of 18, and can lawfully purchase the product. This is the AVD standard we use for bladed products sold via Amazon Retail.

Thanks for your reply Adrian.
Product is not bladed itself. It is in the bladed item category.
I am doing FBA. I have added UK_Knife_18 flag in my listing after which my listing status went inactive on seller central from blocked.
Should i also use AVS for my product as i am doing FBA?
My product is a classic razor. Many Many other sellers are still out there selling with razors.
One of them got blocked and went back online. I am still trying to activate it.

Hi gents,

If FBA is impossible with kitchen knives, why are there so many of them benefiting from Amazon Prime ? It necessarily needs to be FBA if there is amazon prime right ?
