Problems with product variations

Hi Everyone,

I have three existing products that probably should’ve been variations of each other (I also think by combining into variations I might be able to boost my ranking and x-sell more) but I didn’t know this when I first started selling.

Can someone please explain to me, or point me to a simple step-by-step guide for how I can get all these products as different variations?

I currently sell Shot in the Dark (a quiz game), Shot in the Dark Volume 2 and Shot in the Dark: the Christmas Edition. Am I right in thinking that I need to set up a new generic Parent Listing called Shot in the Dark (which won’t actually be a product that anyone can buy) and then I add my existing products as variations to the new parent listing?

Thanks in advance

Yes

Just double check all your child listings after they join the Parent, as they may assume the parent title, images and details. You can manually tidy these up in the child listings through edit.

You can duplicate one of your child listings, and turn it into a parent. If SKU name is important to you, on the duplicate, give it the parent SKU, before you turn it into a variation Parent. Once you change it to a parent you can’t change the parent sku name (eaisly).
