Policy Violation Warning - Please help!
Good afternoon, today I received my first policy violation warning after two years selling and I’m a bit lost on what to do next.
This is the notification:
Hello X,
We have detected a policy violation that impacts your account health. If left unaddressed, it may lead to account deactivation.
Why did this happen?
You created one or more ASIN variations that violate our ASIN Creation policies. Selling partners may not:
– Change the product’s detail page (parent or child) to become fundamentally different from the original product listed.
– Change the parent product’s detail page so it does not match the children.
– Add incorrect child variations that are not true variations of the parent product.
– Add multi-pack variations that are not manufacturer created to an already existing parent. Here are examples of your listings that do not comply with this policy:
Listings Removed
Parent ASIN: XXXXXXXX
Removed ASIN: YYYYYYYYY ZZZZZZZZZ
Invalid Variation Type: Inconsistent Child Variations
At first I thought it was a mistake so I appealed but it was rejected.
After calling the account health team I figured out it must have been due to a change I made on the 4th of December to the title of the listing.
This is the revised POA that I want to submit, I just had a similar one rejected so I want to understand what I am missing before sending it.
– The root cause(s) of the policy violation:
We changed the product title of the two child ASINs which caused the policy violations, we added the words “Paella Burner”, the changes were as follows:FROM:“AAAAAAAA”
TO: “AAAAAAAA Paella Burner”We made the changes to the listing title at the end after checking the Search Query Report and noticing that some customers were purchasing our product after searching for this keyword.
We try to improve the listings every few months and we thought this change would help customers.
At the time, I had not read through the Listing Creation policy, since I did not believe that I was making significant changes to the listing.
– The actions you have taken to resolve the policy violation:
I have removed the changes to the titles and reverted the listing back to the original state.– The steps you have taken to prevent this violation in the future:
We have taken time to properly read and understand the ASIN creation policy https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/gp/help/G201844590More specifically the Variation Policy section https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G201844590#GUID-4ABE5667-F750-4B72-A1FB-A22E68661E1F__section_ub3_cv1_sjb
After reading the policy we now understand that we cannot make changes to the product detail page that make it fundamentally different from the parent ASIN.
Going forward we will not make changes to the listings that make it fundamentally different from the parent ASIN.
We will take time to review each change to the listing and to ensure that it is compliant with the ASIN creation policy.
As always, thank you for your help!

Hello @PMA,
This is Noor from Amazon to help you with your concerns. Thank you for providing insight into your current account status. My goal is to give you further guidance on the next steps
We’re glad you are aware of the root cause of the violation, that can help you in describing more on the root cause.
There are certain elements that are required in a plan of action to be considered valid.
- Acknowledgement of Compliance.
- Root cause analysis/identification
- Corrective actions taken immediately to resolve the issue
- Proactive steps that will be taken to maintain compliance going forward
Do make sure your are clear on why you thought the changes in the child ASINs would not affect your listing and would not trigger the violation.
If it was policy gap, provide details. Who handles the listing/inventory of your Amazon account? If it is handled by an employee of yours, then, are they trained? Which policy are you going to refer to?
How are they being trained? How are you, as a seller of the account, going to ensure that it does not repeat again going forward? What more steps have you taken or are going to take to ensure and instill the confident in Amazon?
You can use the following guidelines to create your plan of action:
**Be clear and concise. ** Your plan of action should be factual and direct. Focus on the facts and events that led to the issue.
The forums community is here to support you. Please let us know how we can help you from this point forward.
