How does Capacity Manager allocation work?

Hey all,

Starting from a very small base, I have managed to have some growth in my FBA business this month. This lead to me running out of standard FBA storage capacity. After doing some reading I found that you can apply for more using the capacity manager. I did so yesterday and put in a request for more storage (for April 01-30) but this was not granted in the latest round of allocations (which happened yesterday night).

The online documentation says that capacity is allocated in order of the requested maximum price for new capacity (essentially it's an auction, highest bidders win). However I bid £3/cu.ft for storage, and the historic reservation fees document says the 'winning fee' for yesterday's round was just £0.97/cu.ft. So my bid was more than three times the winning bid but I did not get accepted.

Why has this happened? I've asked seller support but they just said to wait. I don't really mind that I missed out on capacity yesterday, I just want to understand the process so I can place better bids in the future. My capacity request was relatively small, I think (200 Cu.ft). What am I missing here?
