ID requirements for secondary users

I have recently set up a new user and Amazon are asking me to provide a copy of their passport and fill in a form for verification purposes. This is the first time it happens

I spoke to Seller Support and this seems to be a new policy requirement but they are unable to send me a link to a help page about this new policy.

I am slightly confused by this as almost each member of our staff is already set up as a user on Seller Central, our warehouse staff to use scan and ship and the office staff to create listings or manage our inventory. Never were we asked for their IDs.

I am very confused as to why this information is needed for staff simply printing off labels to send items to FBA. I am concerned about possible restrictions if there is an issue with the verification process.

Does any one have more information about this new policy?

What is your worry about supplying this information, even if you haven’t supplied it in the past, even if you think it is unnecessary and over the top?

Surely the risk of suspension is enough to make you jump through the required hoop?

We recently had to do it too. Was surprised, and its a little bit of hassle but in the end it was over in about 30 seconds.
Just got my colleagues driver license and put in the number, her DOB or whatever and it was all accepted straight away. Didn’t have to scan any documents or copies, so might be worth doing that.
I also spoke to SS who informed me this is now a requirement for all new users going forward.

What if the user does not have a passport? The only options I was given were passport number and EU ID. We are not based in the UK or EU.

So, you can only employ somone on the proviso that they pass Amazon’s ID check.

What if they don’t ?

Could you just get anyone’s details ? i.e. You employ somone who doesn’t have a passport or driving licence, and register under their friend/family. Surely, Amazon don’t yet have the ability to check the person using the system is who they’ve been told !
