Damaged Return during transit
Hi All,
Need some advice please:
A customer ordered a product, decided to return it. I accepted the return, customer ships back the item.
It goes to the wrong building, customer keeps messaging about their refund so I process the refund before inspecting the product.
We eventually get the product back, inspect it and see that because it wasn’t packaged properly, it has been damaged and it’s in unsellable condition.
What are my options? I know Amazon doesn’t cover products damaged by customers so I see no point in trying to contact them.
The customer shipped it back using royal mail’s special delivery guaranteed 1pm service. Should I claim it back from them?
If it was a small amount I might let it slip, but my cost of buying the product is more than £80.

You don’t really have any options.
If you have already refunded, it’s pretty much gone.
As to RM, you can only claim if you bought the label.

You might need to ask the customer for a photo/copy of the receipt in order to claim, as officially only the person that purchased the postage could claim from the courier.
They’re not forced to provide it though… do not ask more than once as any additional contact could be seen by Amazon as harassment.
