What Am I Doing Wrong?

Hi All.

UK Based seller here.

Been selling since just before the start of the new year. Primarily, I sell an established brand, that I own, and have had 15+ years of sales outside of Amazon. I thought, given the history and market share, that moving onto this platform would see an increase in sales. If anything, I think between the shipping costs/unit and the time and effort that has gone into maintaining the seller account, I am actively losing money.

Does anyone else have experience with this? How can I translate my brand sales and history into Amazon sales?

Is it a marketing issue? I'm unsure as to what personal details I can give on here, but I have registered a brand store etc.

Genuinely just confused as to if I should expect monthly sales rarely ever topping 3 figures, or if I have done something wrong. Can't see myself with a lot of life on the site if the former is the case, I must say.

Any help/advice would be seriously appreciated! Or, if I'm not doing much wrong (unlikely, I know), would it make sense to continue to use the platform?

Your listings are what i would call "minimal" in nature and some of them are, accidentally i'm sure, misleading. Amazon will sometimes move listings down the search results if they deem them to be low quality.

As as example on your blackcurrant water listing the ingredients show as being water, kiwi and lime flavour. In the "about this item" section it describes it as "Classic, Kiwi and Lime Flavoured".

In common with almost all your listings it doesn't say how big the bottles are, just that there are 12 of them. I've tried looking at both of the photos but they don't zoom in so i can't see the size.

Conversely on your 19l bottle listing it shows as a 24 count but 1 bottle.

I'd take a look at some of your competitor listings and try to mirror what they've done - basically more photos and more page content. Add some brand content if you can.

Also look at having all your flavoured water as variations so buyers can see them all on one page.

I would suggest an emphasis on natural ingredients, no artificial anything, mineral content & ph of the drinks, and healthy hydration vitamin C content etc...also flavoured implies artificial...have to appeal to the non fizzy drinkers, health fanatics, sick people and people who would want to put them in their childrens lunchboxes...(a typical critical Virgo) but thats what I would do...even a slogan saying something like 'Healthy hydration with a Boost'

In addition, I recommend checking out the Increase sales help page. Since you mentioned operating at a loss, I recommend focusing on the non-ads initiatives to start with. Also since you mentioned selling an established brand, Are you the owner of the brand or trademark? If so, have you enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry yet? If not, I recommend completing the application. You can review the Brand Registry application process help page as needed in this regard. If the brand is already enrolled, I recommend reviewing your Brand Analytics to obtain more in depth customer purchase behavior and action that data; such as virtual bundles.
