Inbound Placement Fee Scam
Another Inbound Placement Fee rant.
So I do not ship to FBA nearly as often as I used to, but I decided to go out of my way to see if I could get around the placement fees for this shipment, as Amazon says we are supposed to be able to do.
I have an inbound shipment of 147 units, spread across 20 skus. Units per sku ranging from 1-23 units. I very evenly split the units across 4 boxes. Guess what, I still have to pay full placement fees and not even the partial option to get reduced fees.
I genuinely think they say you can get it by splitting products up across boxes, but in reality, you cannot get the fees waved with effort. This reduced fee must only work if you are shipping 1000 of 1 sku across 10 boxes or something OR I they are giving out reduced fees at random (like a lottery) just to make us think that it is an option so that we have the feeling that fees were not actually increased. Just a thought.

Hi @Seller_cHU6XL6jaQChu,
Dominic from Amazon here, want to provide additional context.
Inbound placement options will be provided only when your shipments qualify. Factors that affect the number of inbound options include the following:
Whether your shipment includes a mix of standard-size items, non-standard-size items, or special handling categories
- Whether each box contains the same mix and quantities of SKUs
- Quantities and number of boxes for each item
- Geographical demand
To maximize the number of inbound options, try the following:
- Create separate shipments for standard-size items, non-standard-size items, and each special handling category
- Ensure the item mix and item quantities are equal across all boxes
- Increase the number of boxes
I can't speak to each example unfortunately as it depends on a number of factors.
Best,
Dominic
