Hand made soap - restricted or not?
Hi,
Is handmade soap a gated/restricted category on Amazon.co.uk? I’ve seen mixed messages, sometimes seeing that “Topical / Ointment” is restricted, but then nothing in other categories for soaps.
I don’t want to start listing only to have my products removed at a later date.

I can’t answer the question for sure but just a quick mention that you need a Pro account to sell toiletries and cosmetics.
Just in case you are not aware and only have an individual account.

According to that info and as far as I can see, soap is not gated.

Best get clarification in writing from Amazon. Posters on here have suggested they’ve been suspended for not fully understanding the ‘beauty’ categories and listing rules.

If these are truly handmade then don’t forget that there is a specific “handmade” category in which you could list your goods.
You do have to have a Pro account for Health and Beauty, and on Handmade you also need a Pro account but at the moment the fee is waived until December 2018 so listing there may be doubly beneficial to you.

With reference to Handmade, Soap falls under the sub category Beauty and Personal Care which has yet to launch under Handmade
Rest assured that Handmade EU will follow closely along the line of that which was launched and has been trading in the US (www.amazon.com) resulting in new sub categories and feature stores being rolled out in the near future.
