Has anyone issues with parcels on Italy?

Hi, I need some advice, please. I lost already 59 parcels which I sent to Italy as large letter due to the weigh 58 and 116 grams. Not track due to the price but I am thinking on it from now. Some clients I know receive and say they didn’t.

Clients reported they did not receive after nearly 15 days waiting. Other received broken items. Have you got any similar experience? Do I have to complain to Royal Mail?

Thanks in advance.

Not unless they have branched out and now perform deliveries in Italy.

I send the parcel, I lose money and they get upset because it arrives broken or does not arrive. Then left negative feedback. Ha! I might stop selling there from now.

What is your EDD range? Shipping to Italy can take more than 1 month, it’s a country with very bad postal system. I have a friend who sells on Amazon and ships from Italy and even he has 3 weeks shipping time for domestic orders.

2 weeks is definitely not enough. I would advise you to increase it by setting longer handling time to make it at least 3-4 weeks.

Also, if you are sending thicker packages without tracking, you need to tell your customers to go ask at the post office to see, if the package is not there.

Italy is a pain in the ass. Not tracked = not received for Italian customers.
I’m thinking of going “only fba” for Italy

Every item that I send to Europe now goes tracked and signed. I have made the postage prices high enough to cover the cost even on small £3 items.
Had to do this as so much would “Go Missing” if they want it they still buy.

We have a Rule for both Italy and spain, We only post via Courier and the charges of this are passed onto the customer they can pay or not. We get no complaints really with this method.

We refuse point blank to send anything Royal mail to these 2 countries. You will loose them

We are in Spain and I agree, do not use ordinary mail here. Correos is terrible! Christmas cards delivered in March, no deliveries when the postman goes on vacation for three weeks … A few years back a postman did not make the deliveries for six months, just threw all the mail away. He is in jail now.

But then again, sometimes it works and the letter arrives as it should. Couriers here are great, though! Or we are lucky.

We sell products with higher value and we always send with courier with tracking and extra security. That is inclluded in the shipment cost fr the customer to pay. So far all has gone well …

I send a lot of low value items untracked to Italy and so far get few problems.
I do though make sure the address is correct and also formatted correctly. The blue Airmail sticker is VERY important and MUST be on the top left hand corner.
“Large Letter” must also be written on the Jiffy below the Blue Label - on mine it is within the Click & Drop label which is fine.
I see no harm in correcting minor address errors as they’re not tracked and I’d lose an INR anyway but it does not happen. I also add a barcode of the order ID to the postage label.
If the address is just too wrong (or even does not exist) I don’t send - again not had an issue - but it’s even more time consuming not to send.

MARIO ROSSI = addressee
INTERNO 12 PIANO 10 = door number + floor number
VIALE EUROPA 300 = street + premise
00144 ROMA RM = postcode + locality + province abbreviation
ITALY = This must be in English when sending from the UK - orders through amazon.it will say “Italia” on the packing slip. This would delay leaving the UK.

Line 3, 4 and 5 must be written in capital letters. However, it is preferable to have all lines of the address written in capital letters. Addresses can be a maximum of 6 lines.
Street number comes after the street name, never before.

This is all very time consuming and would not suit a lot of sellers.
More than 50% of addresses that amazon ask me to ship to have some sort of error. More than 70% - for everywhere, including the UK, - are incorrectly formatted. Some so much so that it looks to be deliberate or maybe people just don’t know where they live.
Every package, once labeled, is photographed.

Finally, make sure your anticipated delivery times are realistic.

It’ll be interesting if we have to start adding CN-22 labels for Europe after Brexit.
