Buyer claims it was delivered to a Hacker

Hi All

Got a new one for me here.

A buyer has claimed that the address that is on the order is not his and is due to someone hacking his account which he has made Amazon aware of. He’s not claiming he didn’t place the order only that it was delivered to the “Hackers” Address and not his.

It was sent as royal mail signed for and signed as his surname.

Anyone experience this at all, sounds pretty iffy to me but not sure which route to go down. Is it Amazons, get him to claim through his card company or reluctantly just give him a refund

Any comments appreciated

Paul

I would just reply back to the buyer that the order has been delivered to the address provided and you have tracking to prove this. I wouldn’t refund him.

I would tell the buyer to take the matter up with Amazon if he believes his account has been hacked.

If the buyer is genuine then then potentially a chargeback could be done on the card so the buyer gets his money back. I don’t then see how Amazon can hold you responsible for this.

Surely even Amazon cannot hold you responsible for a buyer’s account being hacked.! I would have said this is the buyer’s problem not yours. You have delivered the goods to the address that amazon have provide you with. If he thinks that the address given is a hacker’s then perhaps he should report it to the police - but thats not your problem.

Scammers playing the game over Christmas, covid and no buyers sign for it, it is a mess for the sellers
