Amazon postage credit has not increased for over 5 years.
I just sold an item that weights 3lbs and was charged $15 to ship. Amazon charged the buyer $6.50 for shipping. I went back 5 years when I sold the same item and paid less than $10 to ship this same item. Buyer shipping has not changed.
The cost of shipping and seller fees has increased by 30% in 5 years but Amazon has not adjusted the postage credits back to the sellers.
There should be power in numbers to push for this credit increase, yet I do not see much discussion in the forums on this topic.

That is because the rest of us are on the PRO plan at $40/month and can set our own shipping charges.
Everyone always says it only works if you ship 40 items a month BUT -- it is also worthwhile if you ship fewer items and face the situation you are in.
How many items do you ship and how much do you lose on every one? Multiple the number times the loss amount and if it is close to or over $40 then go PRO so you can set the shipping and escape the $1 per item!

Or you can just build the extra cost into your price, even if you're not on the Pro plan.
But Amazon is unlikely to change the default amount. You need to be proactive and adjust, either by changing your shipping templates to charge a higher rate, or raise your price.
