All Variants show the same images
Hi there,
at the moment all our listings here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B081F64VVZ?
Are showing the images of a single variant instead of their own colour/size variant.
Example: B081F64VVZ is showing the images of ASIN B099NZW4HZ
We have checked everything and all answers from the Amazon support do not help us.
Also, the answer is always a different one e.g. suggesting that the images of B081F64VVZ are not compliant.
However, the images are 100% compliant, and even if they are not compliant there is no reason to show the images of a different colour variant. That would be like showing the image of a red T-Shirt for a variant with a blue T-Shirt.

Before last week this was all fine but this error is now something we just can’t get rid of again.
We have opened 20+ tickets with Amazon and tried to call them dozens of times but they are just not understanding the issue and providing dozens of NOT working solutions.
This is their last statement:
Upon checking you are winning contributor for the ASIN and images you have contributed on the ASIN is already updated.
Further checking, I see that you have contributed different Images for the all the Child listings in this variation family. Please note that under this type of variation theme, our detail page is designed in such a way that the system will pick images from one of the variant.
This means that the listing is under a variation, and another child ASIN is contributing to all the products from the same size or color variation.
This makes no sense at all as we have different SIZES and COLOURS. So there is no reason to display the images of one single variant now all of the sudden.

We already deleted the whole listing (through the inventory import) and reuploaded it via the file import(s). But it’s just always showing random images from on Variant.
Does anyone have any idea?

I also think it’s my problem, this should be a catastrophic technical glitch and I hope Amazon fixes it soon

@Postees1 we are using Color-Size as our variation theme. Which is working completely fine for other listings and until last week was working for this listing as well.

All images are the same except 1x for each listing which shows the colour of the tableware. Those images all have the same setup and resolution.
Also, when opening the variant there is no notification that the images are not compliant. When asking Amazon they can’t point out why an image shouldn’t be compliant.
Why would we add images to the parent listing? The listings only show images of the variant and never showed anything uploaded to the parent. Have now uploaded them but its still displaying the once of a random variant.

Amazon just came back with this non-sense answer:
Hello from Amazon Brand Registry Support,
As we investigated about this issue, we have found that ASINs images are in size & color theme based.
Our internal Amazon Image Systems will choose images of item that has better images because it is variated in a non-visual dimension theme of “size”.
Size is not a visual dimension theme where images are shown of the same selected Child ASIN.
Color is a visual dimension theme where images are shown of the same selected Child ASIN.
Visual dimension is the products differing by color are visually different & hence different images are shown for products differing only by color.
Products which solely differ by size look similar which is non-visual dimension & so the better images are chosen by our internal Amazon Systems to be shown on the selected child ASIN.
As your child items won’t have the images changing for the selected size based child ASIN, we request you to re-name the size-names of Child-ASINs exactly with correct name of the packs like 1-pack, 2-pack or with more exact terms which describes the items so that your customers will exactly know what they would like to order & you can keep the images only based on colors but not of size.

We are clearly using the Color-Size variant theme meaning we do have a colour and images should not be replaced by a winning variant from other colours.

In case anyone is looking for a solution - the following worked for us:
- Orphan all products so that they are not grouped together but individual listings on Amazon
- Wait a few hours (we waited over night so all images are changing on the individual listings)
- Merge the products together under one Parent-ASIN
This worked for us, but Amazon never got us anywhere after 2 weeks talking with them and ca. 20x tickets. Horrible experience and luckily someone in our network had the idea above and it worked.

We used the Category Listing report and assigned to each 'orphaned variant the old parent again.
