Selling goods with different VAT rates
Hello,
We are selling goods with different VAT Rates. E.g. DVDs / Books. Books are zero rated and DVDs are at 20%. Ive tried playing around to sort this, but all items were showing at zero VAT on customer invoices and now everything is showing at 20%. How do I adjust per item? Is there a button I turn off or on?
Regards
Luke

I take it you are VAT registered, are you using Amazon VAT calculation services to generate?
You can set the VAT class on each ASIN to show whether it is zero rated, normal etc.

If you’re using the VAT Calculation service, you set your default VAT rate (in our case 20%) then if you want to make an exception for a specific item, you do so via the listing - by editing the ‘Product Tax Code’ field.
One thing to watch, if you automatically build international listings, or add the prices for the other marketplaces at the bottom of the UK listing, the tax code does not carry over. You need to go into the destination marketplaces, access the listing and edit the tax code again. A massive pain!

Hi Both,
Thank you so much for your responses. Yes, I am VAT registered and using Amazon VAT services. We sell 90% books and 10% VAT addable items. I have just clicked into a listing and seen the ‘Product Tax code section’. It looks like I’ve got my work cut out for me tonight then. Is there a quicker way to change it? I have a few hundred to do.
Shame about the EU tax. Thats an extra pain. I am considering doing PAN EU, but I am not sure if its 100% worth it. Let’s say I wanted to go into just Germany, is there any way Amazon will do VAT services for me? I have seen their PAN EU program with VAT services, but it looks like you have to go into all the countries listed on the Amazon Site.
