UPS refuses to pick up the goods

Hi,

I’ve been using UPS service to ship my parcels to Amazon FBA last 4 years, hundreds of shipments thousands of parcels shipped without any problem, but last month is a nightmare.

One day in May unfriendly courier came to collect 30 boxes, he was rude from the beginning and requested me to carry half of the boxes I had to the van. This situation ended arguing with the driver, and he took only 15 boxes, happily hour later another driver collected rest of the parcels.

Last week the driver came to collect 19 boxes (7 kg each) and it seems that he decided just to drop “We missed you” card without knocking, while I was at home waiting for him. I chased him on the street, he came back and waited until I put all the boxes outside of the house just to tell me that he won’t collect these boxes now, because my request was removed from his device while he was producing “We missed you” card. Insane situation, we have each box labeled by UPS label and the driver is telling me that he won’t collect them. Another unpleasant conversation with the driver, who was clearly avoiding doing his tasks.

Next day i requested new collection, and to my surprise received voice message from local UPS branch that they won’t collect anything more from me and I have to call Amazon to ask them to arrange new courier company for me.

Does anyone had similar situation that UPS decided no to collect anything from you without even giving any reason, without contacting you by management to discuss the situation? I just can assume it was because drivers reported me or something like that, but no one contacted me to ask about my point of view. And there is no option to find someone who I can talk at the UPS, they have useless customer service line, and no email or phone contacts to the management. During my search I found that UPS has rank 1.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot, the same level of reviews on Google and other websites. That was shocking for me because I was sure that UPS is a solid company, well, they are not.

Of course still trying to resolve that situation, and it seems that there are chances that someone from local branch will call me and explain what they decide, and why. But just in case that failed, do you know contact details to some CEO at UPS UK? I think that it will be only way to deal with the mafia at local UPS branch, who are trying to affect my business.

If there are people who are using different courier companies to ship goods to FBA, can you please kindly share what company is this? I need second solution as now I’m feeling like a small ant fighting horde of mammoths.

Thank you for all suggestions in advance.

Might be a pain but you could drop them off at one of your local ups access points while you try to resolve the issue. https://www.ups.com/smallbusiness/home/locations?loc=en_GB&tx=1151864927688674

We used UPS For 6 Months and what a headache! Never enough drivers, missed collections, customers complaining no delivery ever attempted and not willing to go to access point, no calling cards left. You name it we had issues! Don’t get me wrong on the good days most deliveries were quick but with the % of issues we were getting it just wasn’t worth the hassle in the end. Managed to get same price we were paying with Royal Mail Tracked 48 so all our heavy and light orders leave together at 4:30pm everyday and Royal Mail never missed a collection ever. Think its time for you to start getting quotes with other companies. Parcelforce/DPD/RM Maybe?

Lugging 30 boxes that weight 7kg back and forth is a lot of work. Imagine if the driver had to do that all day. Why didn’t you just put it on a pallet and send it off using palletline. Sending 30 boxes that weight 7kg costs more than £110 using AMZ partnered UPS and you risk some of your boxes getting lost in transit. On the other hand sending your boxes on a pallet would’ve only cost around £80 and you won’t loose a box in transit because it’s all packed onto one pallet. Food for thought.

I think a lot depends if you get one of the 100s of new UPS drivers who tend to adhere to the rules, if the collection isn’t booked they can’t take it and they can only take the exact number you book out, hence why once the collection is cancelled off their screen as above they can’t take it.

The old school original drivers take anything I leave out and are generally really good

Sorry , you’re not gonna like this one but we get collections and deliveries all the time and regardless of the size and quantity of the boxes either myself or my husband help the driver - it certainly goes a long way keeping the drivers on side

You are not the only one to face this situation. I had similar situations (yes, situations last year) with guess who… UPS! I often wonder if their drivers are trained TO BE rude. Because most seem to be rude and unfriendly.

So in one of the incidents I faced, I had a generally rude UPS driver asking me to stack the boxes outside my door (they were literally stacked on my doorstep, and all he had to do was to pick up from the outside and it would have been more convenient for him) But after a brief altercation I obliged.

In further incidents, I had one UPS particular driver, extremely rude and in fact shouting at me. These were collections arranged from a warehouse / storage facility where there were witnesses. After the second incident with this driver the storage facility manager and I complained to UPS separately.
Then there was another incident and he was literally shouting saying “I know you have complained about me blah blah, I don’t care” I believe these were however dealt with and the driver had been spoken to.

Fast forward to the most recent incidents where on 3 occasions I had the UPS driver come to the location, and marked the packages as collected. Except that he didn’t…

So, you are not alone… You did say you had an argument with the driver, so this may not have played well on your part…

There is no point in speaking to the customer support. Like really, don’t bother. Send a detailed email, but be courteous and explain your point of view.
May I ask where you are based? My drivers were assigned to the Tamworth hub I believe. The manager there was helpful in my case and they had ‘had a word’ to the drivers…
