UK Customs Tax Question
I have a query regarding UK customs tax.
I am quite new to FBA and have had some items delivered direct to amazon from china.
I have had several items delivered without any issue and without the suppliers referring to uk customs tax, nor any correspondence from uk customs to my company.
I have now had one supplier present me with a uk customs tax bill, which they say relates to the import of one product.
What is the general procedure regarding incurring and payment of uk customs tax ?
For instance, is it the supplier who will receive this bill ? Or should my uk company receive it direct ?
It would be great to hear from anyone with some experience on the subject.

You, as both the exporter and importer for deliveries to Amazon UK warehouses and liable for all import duty and VAT which normally needs paid before release of good from UK Customs.
How have you managed to avoid this on past shipments, did you declare the correct value of the goods on your invoices?
What do you mean by supplier?
If you mean you shipped an order direct to a Customer (buyer) if the value attracted duty and VAT, then you are also liable for this cost if the UK customer ordered on Amazon UK site and you shipped to a UK address from China.

Every item shipped in from outside the EU should attract VAT on entry. The rate of VAT depends on the item but is usually 20%.
I would imagine the previous parcels did not get highlighted at HMRC depot and therefore the applicable VAT has not been collected (this is why a lot of overseas companies mark the items as “gifts” to avoid paying VAT).
Ask yourself the question “have you paid anything to HMRC for the goods that have been shipped in from China?”
