Package claims was empty when delivered
Hi
I am looking for a bit of advice. A buyer contacted me to say that he received an empty package. He also stated the package had not been tampered with. At the same time he opened a A to Z claim before I even had a chance to respond. I checked all the details and have a receipt from the Post Office stating the package weighed 300g and £2.68 was paid in postage. I provided this information to Amazon on the A to Z case. I replied back to the customer attaching the receipt that the package was not empty when we posted it and asked if the packaging may have been opened or damaged. The customer confirmed again that the package had not been opened or damaged. I emailed back to say if the packaging had not been damaged enough for the contents to fall out then it may be the case there has been a possible theft within the Royal Mail and will open a case with them. Immediately my customer responded saying the packaging had been damaged. The buyer demands a refund and is not interested in any replacement. Amazon closed the A to Z case and informed that the customer will not be refunded. My customer appealed and again Amazon decided not to refund. Now I am receiving 6-8 emails per day demanding a refund from the buyer. I am finding it hard to believe that the package was empty since his story has changed. I also thought that once Amazon made a decision it was final. Should I respond back to his demands?

You seem to have Amazon’s support on this so just mark as spam and move on.

did they send any pic of the package? I would report to RM definitely of attempt fraud.

Wow, you are really lucky that Amazon decided to support you and not give the buyer any refund. It is possible that the buyer has a long history of similar claims, otherwise the buyer would get at least Amazon funded refund.
Don’t let the buyer scare you to give him a refund. Mark the messages “No response needed”

Thank you for your replies. In all the years of trading I have never had this happen before. I haven’t responded to any emails over the weekend as I don’t believe it will get me anywhere. As the A to Z case was opened I left it to Amazon to decide. I was fully expecting Amazon to refund and was surprised when they closed the case without any refund. It did make me believe that the buyer does have a history. I will look at possibly reporting this incident to the Royal Mail as he may continue to do this to others in the future.

Send one last reply stating as they opened an A-Z case with Amazon, you are unable to provide any further assistance, or respond to further messages, then mark any further messages from them as no reply needed and report to Amazon as spam.
The change of story from empty box (undamaged) to damaged item should tell you all you need to know about the buyer, a clear scammer short on brain cells.

Thank you, I might just send one last message and hopefully it will put some closure to it. I have been marking the emails as no response needed. I will also take your advise and mark them as spam.
Thank you again for your help and support.
