Amazon adding their own bullet points to my listings - how to remove?

Hi all

I have previously described some of my items as “antique silver tone”, as in, not shiny silver colour. Amazon have picked up the word “antique” and, being helpful in the way only amazon can, added in a new single word bullet point in the key product features that just says “antique”. My items are not antique and I don’t wish to mislead customers that way.

I have used flat files to remove any trace of the word “antique” from the information I have inputted into the listings, and reuploaded the files. But the “antique” bullet points still remain…any ideas how to remove them??

Finding something similiar on a few listings here - had lots of lovely bullet points of my own describing the products fully then Amazon came along and automatically (I assume) added misinformation as a ‘special feature’ bullet point which has already caused someone to note negatively in a review. I have contacted support even sending pictures with the exact problem highlighted but just get told to edit the product or upload flat files. None of which remove the incorrect points since ‘special feature’ is not a field that can be updated, I re-opened the case twice and have now given up.

How and why should Amazon be adding bullet points ? - it does not make sense to me at all.

Hello
Amazons systems are pretty useless, we’ve uploaded many flat files to update product headings and descriptions, they almost never work.
You’re as well to live with it or do a new listing and hope they don’t do the same, seller support more often than not create more problems than they solve, we try not to contact them any more, we simply just relist the item in question, far better for our sanity.
Good luck.

You have to constantly badger SS and hope they eventually see sense.

I had similar issues with Amazon adding bullet points when they picked up on the words “not waterproof” and decided it was a great idea to tell customers the item was… yes you guessed it…

WATERPROOF!

Or the same item which is described as having a large zip pocket on the outside (which is clearly shown in the images too) but Amazon decided to put…

Inside pocket : Large zip pocket

The item doesn’t have an inside pocket and nowhere did I ever claim it did.

There were other issues but those two were just for starters.

The problem is two fold.

Firstly, too many badly programed bots picking up on certain words without considering the context.

And secondly, the zombies at Amazon have a particular kind of product in mind when they introduce new attributes and they don’t have the brain cappacity to think beyond that. They then apply all those attributes to similar-ish products without thinking through the implications.

I did eventually get them to drop the extra bullet points after many months of pestering them… and then just when I thought everything was sorted, they went and did it all over again on the same listing but on a different market place… :man_facepalming:

And then they have the nerve to leture us about the importance of having accurate listings…

It looks like this is getting worse, just doing a search (on a desktop) and now a bullet point which Amazon added to our listing of ‘Material’ and filled with incorrect details from somewhere is now showing under the item title in a bold font as if its highly important.
The only positive is that unlike some of the bullet points added ‘Material’ can at least be edited through the product info however it shouldn’t be necessary to now have to go and edit all our items since Amazon feel they know a product better than the person who created the listing.

Also why doesn’t the prime logo show on a desktop search when they have so much space yet it does on a mobile.
They are certainly making a lot of useless changes to search lately, not sure if the ‘small business’ is a good or pointless feature.
