VAT Liability Email from amazon

Hi All,

We have received a n email about VAT calculations to be paid to amazon for our UK sales. While we have a flat VAT rate (7.5%) and paid our VAT regularly to HRMC. We have VAT certificates and also proof of VAT payments to HRMC. There is no clear instruction whom to contact or what to provide as proof for our VAT compliance. Is any there any one from amazon support team to advise? We raised a case with ID 9105412542 for same. But they seems clueless. Below is snapshot of amazon email incurring huge amount of VAT to be collected from our account.

As far as I know no-one from Seller Support looks at the forum. The only possibility is that a forum mod could (possibly) look into it for you.

You need to tag them in to your post.

Amazon do not accept the flat rate 7.5% scheme. They always account for UK Vat AT 20% I'm afraid.

We are in the same situation, received same email (7 days ago) as you did.

Since then, nothing, no one contacted us to tell us what we should do. They say : If you have concerns regarding payment of your VAT liability please contact us here" . Here where? it is an email from "no-reply"

Can somebody contact the sellers in this situation ? Our suppliers get angry because we have the money on hold and we can't pay them.

Please, it is a desperate situation.

Hi everyone,

I also got slapped with a hefty VAT liability. The unique thing in my case is that I sell a product that falls under HMRC VAT notice 714. These goods have zero-rated VAT according to HMRC. I had clearly identified these SKUs as zero-rated through the product tax code(PTC). I explained this situation to the Amazon VAT team while my VAT calculations were being processed.

My account is currently active but disbursements are held. Does not show a negative balance as of yet.

How may I convince Amazon that the goods are zero-rated?
