Mysterious order?

I’ve just had a strange one. A customer phoned me to say she had received an order from me but didn’t order anything. She had ordered this same item from me before, many years ago but is adamant that she didn’t place this order or accidently hit the reorder button in her Amazon account. Her name and address on the invoice was exactly correct but the buyer name isn’t hers and she doesn’t know anyone with that name. Not sure if anyone has seen this before? Obviously I’ve been paid for the stock so happy to ignore it but don’t want “the buyer” of this order start saying “where’s my stuff” and raising an A-Z for non receipt which Amazon will happily pay back from my account!

You haven’t said if this was FBA of MFN.

Then I think your customer has accidentally clicked the “buy again” button. It’s too easy to do.

It could have been anyone that used her computer if she was logged in to Amazon. My home PC is always logged in to my buying account.

Reordering by accident is very easy.

We’ve had it happen once or twice over the years that someone has received an order from us (not being a returning buyer) with no idea who placed it, nor why. They phoned us as they were afraid that they were the victim of fraud.

The order was always placed by someone else, but all the address details correct, including the mobile number. In each case we never found out how or if it was resolved, but didn’t get an A-Z claim. In case there was some scam there we weren’t seeing, I advised the recipient to talk to Amazon customer services about the issue, since they could see whose buyer account was used to place the order.
