Suspected Intellectual Property Violations

Quick Question:

Has anyone on here had ‘Suspected’ reports (probably picked up by the bots for the Brand name being in the title) and not appealed or done anything and had them just come off their account after 180 days or is everyone being suspended ?

We’ve had 3 drop off due to being over 180 days but after hearing about other sellers being suspended I’ve been trying (unsuccessfully) to get the other 13 removed - it’s made more difficult by the fact that all the products were old stock that we haven’t sold in a while, and the listings weren’t created by us in the first place.

We deleted the listings as we were advised to do so by SS (and editing them didn’t do any good) but now it seems that may have been the wrong course of action.

I’ve been advised again by seller support to create new listing against the affected ASINs and remove the offending word from the title - but not sure if this will make things worse. Has anyone else got any advice on what to do?

I wrote to seller support and asked how to update listings where I had deleted them.

They came back and helpfully told me that I needed to update the listings by clicking on the edit button.

They did tell me that I would not be penalised by them but I am also nervous after hearing of others being suspended.

All this talk about creating a “New Listing” looks a little confusing and to be honest contrary.

One cannot create a New ASIN as this is a violation of Policy and risks account closure.
Creating a New Listing, as in deleting an ASIN from your Inventory, is not any more successful than simply editing the existing listing - it is still the same ASIN.
If the ASIN has not been reactivated by editing your listing, then it is no more likely to be reactivated by creating a new listing after deleting the old one.

We do have to wait - how long I do not know - for the bots to do their rounds before the ASIN is reactivated.

I uploaded a csv file and after 2 days approx 90 notifications disappeared and they were not those older than 180 days.

Just like others mentioned, since Amazon recently started suspending sellers over these Suspected Intellectual Property Rights Infringement Complaints, it’s a very bad idea to continue ignoring them and simply expect them to disappear from your metrics after 180 days.

Try having as many of them as possible lifted by enacting any suggested edits.

But contacted SS , and listing was reinstated within an hour or so

We as with everyone else it seems, are totally confused as to how to resolve these issues.

Personally the only success I have had is when the brand owner have been able to resolve from their side on Vendor Central, or if I have got a letter of authorisation from the brand owner. No matter what I do to our listing, it always remains blocked, even though the option exists to Edit.

For the remaining problem ones we have, they all have the Edit Step, giving you the option to Edit. Assume the situation is more serious if you do not have that option.

i have seen mention of accounts getting suspended over this which is deeply worrying, but do wonder whether those cases are true Intellectual property violations, that have been mixed in with these suspected.

Yup I’ve got 8 on my account which they’ve now suspended. We are licensed resellers of Smiffys fancy dress and I’ve already sent documentary evidence to support this and our ability to use Smiffys in our titles but alas this has been ignored. Neil

I deleted all the asins that were suspected IP violations and now realise this was the wrong thing to do. What’s the best course of action now to try and get them back so I can edit them?

The listings I deleted from my inactive inventory which were originally available for edit have completely disappeared from the Amazon catalogue.
