Hacked 3 times in 24 Hours
We recently got back on Amazon after 7 years being off it, and I’m amazed to see the platform hasn’t changed one bit, but yesterday I found that when I came into work I couldn’t login, so I changed the password and thought nothing of it but was informed it was hack attempt later that day.
This morning I woke to find that we were hacked again and they changed the bank information, luckily Amazon found out and froze everything but now I can’t sell and have to change all the information back. This time I downloaded and installed Malware software and additional firewalls, changed passwords for my email and repeated the whole process. I was just leaving for work and they tried again but were stopped by the OTP process.
When I arrived at work I left my desk for a minute only to find that they got in again and Amazon reset everything again. I have been able to fulfil orders now but I am very worried it will happen again. I changed my microsoft login password, enabled 2 step password for email services but what happens if they are just watching every step I make by using software the likes of which Jim Browning is using when he gets the scam call centres back.
Any tips of advice would be welcome.

What are you using to login?
I would suggest using a combination of Malwarebytes and another antivirus - NOT Norton or McAffee - something like AVG or bitdefender do good free ones. Run full scans of your system at least once.
Disable any extensions you have on your browsers, ensure that your search engines used are only Google, Bing or similar.
Read up and make sure you know how to check that your DNS settings are set to auto, or reset them to use Google or Cloudflare (8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1) to avoid man in the middle attacks.

AVG and came back clean, Bitdefender wouldn’t install.

By any chance do you use your e-mail address that is linked to your Amazon account, either the main e-mail address or the recovery address for your Amazon account to login to your laptop? If it’s Windows based and you created a Microsoft Account to do this (which is seems to prompt you for now a lot). We found the other day there seems to be some security issues with this… as when you create the Microsoft Account to login in to your Windows laptop/desktop and use another e-mail address, i.e a gmail account. You’ve still got your gmail account and password and then it uses your gmail email address for the Microsoft account and a new password of your choice that you use to login to the laptop and the Microsoft account… But… it’s still syncing your Gmail account to the Microsoft account… so if your getting things such as E-mails / Messages and other data coming through it gets backed up on the Microsoft Account and most people don’t setup extra security questions or 2 stage login on the Microsoft Account as it’s a rush job…then if someone gets into the Microsoft account that can basically access most of your data without you really knowing… Google won’t send you a security alert of someone logging in from another location as it’s the Microsoft account that has the breach and is syncing behind the scenes with the gmail account.
Be careful of any other devices such as Mobile Phones or Tablets… clear all the history / cookies (reset them if you can).

Watch out for emails from nobody@amazon.com, they are a scam trying to get you to log into your account

I had the same issue a month ago. Kept reset password only to get it locked all over again.
Had to do a fresh install of windows. I suggest doing this if you can. Sometimes some malware can resist removal by antivirus software. I’m currently testing some antivirus softwares. Most of them have trial versions. I suggest doing the fresh install (usb windows install, format and delete all hard drive partitions, you will lose all your data though). Then install the antivirus and see if the login issue continues.

Hi, - This happened to me a couple of years ago. For me it was via my phone, (as Peter) did state could be the issue for you also. * From my phone they jumped into both my laptops, and P.C - It was a nightmare basically re-formatting my entire phone, laptops, and p.c. But to be honest, until I did so, (re-formatting) everything, i.e re-set to factory settings then re-installing backup’s , the problem just couldn’t be beaten by any anti spyware / virus . I had norton, malewarebytes, you name it, - But the thing is the software these ‘hackers’ use once in is incredibly hard to then remove in retrospect if that makes sense. So this is just my experience, and hope it can perhaps nip things in the bud for you. My whole life turned upside down, as they didn’t limit there hacking to just Amazon, so perhaps before they do dig deeper into whatever other sensitive info you may have on your phone / p.c’s / laptops, - I’d highly recommend, backing everything up, cloud, and hard drive too, and then just going through the massive task of re-setting everything. Including Spyware, Norton, emails, FB, Amazon, anything else you can possibly think of.
Best of luck👍

Use an authenticator app on your phone. It’s the safest option and almost impossible to pass without your physical phone.

I had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday! I have been wondering if it was some sort of Amazon system going crazy and flagging the account, rather than an actual hack taking place, as I had all Two factor enabled and still it was able to happen.
