FBM to FBA: Linking Best-Selling Variants
I currently sell various apparel items on Amazon through FBM. Since apparel includes numerous variations in color and size, each product can have around 100 variant SKUs associated with it. I'm considering switching some of my best-selling variants to FBA while keeping them under the same parent listing.
I have no issue continuing with FBM, but my main reason for exploring FBA is the potential boost in sales and visibility. Is it possible to link only the best-selling variants to FBA while maintaining the same parent listing?
I would appreciate any advice from those who have experience with this transition. If you're in a similar position, please share any insights—thanks!

Hi @Seller_FTQdn5l71ZYE6,
Great question about mixing FBA and FBM variants!
Under "Frequently asked questions" in Using FBA for your products, there's a perfect example: "You have multiple candles in five different colors. You could have an FBA offer for your best-selling colors... plus a seller-fulfilled listing."
To set this up, you'll need to create new SKUs for the variants you want to convert to FBA. Here's how, according to Get started with FBA:
- Look for the arrow next to "Edit" on your Manage Inventory page
- Choose "Add another condition"
- Create a new SKU (they suggest adding "-FBA" to help keep things organized)
- Select "Amazon will ship and provide customer service"
One thing to keep in mind: The Variation FAQ mentions that "Amazon displays the bestselling child ASIN from a variation family in the search results." This could affect which of your variants customers see first.
Before making any changes, you might want to check out the FBA Revenue Calculator to make sure the numbers work for your specific products. You can find the calculator link in the "Why should you use FBA" section of the first help page I mentioned.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards, Michael

Yes you can, we do it with all our listing. Except we created seperate SKUs. You are allowed 2 SKUS for an ASIN. One FBM and one FBA. That way if FBA is out of stock you don't loose the sales. We just add FBA in front of the SKU to make it unique.

Dont forget to see what Amazon thinks what your product is worth and what they will reimburse you for if they lose it.
