GTIN Exemption Generic
Hi, Does anyone else have this issue?
When applying for GTIN exemption for a none branded and no GTIN of any description the instructions state select the category (clothing in this instance) and put Generic in the Brand box.
When I do this and I have tried several times I get a message that in effect states I can’t use this brand name and it needs UPC, EAN etc which defeats the object of using Generic. I cannot get past this point to add images.
I reported this to Amazon which is being investigated.

Have you applied for exemption 1st via https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/gtinx/browser
Once you then create a listing you tick a box that says This product does not have a brand name and it will auto update the brand to Generic

Yes, this is the process where I have the problem, it won’t accept Generic I just keep getting a message to say I need UPC, EAN etc which is not making sense. Thanks

Have you tried capital G
It works for me with a capital G only as Generic but not generic

same problem with me as well… support team was not able to find a solution … its been more than 20 days. However they says that it is a very common problem…
They suggested to put "Generic " and go ahead, Usually for Generic Approval it does not ask for images etc. but here it ask for that… irony is s despite providing the images they rejected the approval… looks like some unwanted elements have been hired in the support who does not want to resolve issue but just want tot close issues to save their Slas.

Hi, Thanks. I was told to try Generic ‘Generic’ “Generic” and ‘’‘Generic’’’ no difference and still have no resolution and today when asked where the case investigation is up to I was told there is no investigation!
Did “Generic” at least get you past the first stage, sounds like it did if you got rejected.

Problem is with “Generic” is the system thinks it is a brand that requires approval and this is why it gets rejected later.
The system should work with Generic with noting added.
