Is Amazon FBA worth it?

Hi everyone. I currently sell on Amazon UK and fulfill the orders myself. Is it worth using Amazon FBA? Does the extra push from the Amazon Prime badge etc get you that much more sales that it will cover the extra costs of fulfillment and storage and more?

I’d love to hear some examples from anyone that can tell me any sales percentage increase from when they were self fulfilling compared to FBA?

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Much appreciated.

This is a question that is asked regularly.
There are pro’s and cons to everything you do.
And at the end of the day, you are the only person that can decide whether it’s worth it.

However, as a general gist, shipping for prime tends to be a little cheaper than standard.
Prime prices can be a little higher and still get the buy box.
A lot of customers will only shop for prime items, so you miss out on these, if you are not using it.
Time saved overall. No packing and posting to do.

The cons, you have to label/ship to Amazon.
Amazon take over complete customer service, which in turn means refunds etc with no notice.
Storage fees/long term fees etc.

But the only real way to find out, is to try a small shipment and see how it goes.
Work out all of the costs before sending anything though.

For my industry of printer inks FBA is perfect. the FBA fees are only around just over £2 stored and delivered. I can charge up to 10% more and still get the buy box. Customers often leave it until last minute to order their ink and with prime can sometimes order at 9pm and get it the following day, a service which they will happily pay a bit extra for. Plus when I go on holiday as long as I get everything sent in before I go I can continue making money without even being in the country

I’ve only been selling on Amazon since April and was doing well myself- hard work packaging and sending so I thought I would try FBA

As a test - I sent 5 items in my first shipment to Amazon and that worked really well

Next order was one box of 14 items and 1 box of 11 items - they have completely messed up the inventory and I’ve lost items and ultimately money - I believe this has happened because they moved my stock between multiple fulfilment centres.

I have recently sent 2 products (in 2 separate boxes) so hoping this goes to plan

Not a great experience so far, in addition to them sending an incorrect product out which has impact my account health :frowning:

Raising a ticket isn’t a great experience either as you get ‘robot like responses’ whereas I could do with speaking to someone who will take ownership of the issues and resolve them

Buy Shipping option keeps disappearing which means I have to use an external system and pay for postage

I have paid amazon £1644 since April!!

Yes I noticed it takes along time for them to receive and checkin stock :frowning:
