Do you think that FBA staff steal from sellers' inventory?
I regularly have items missing from FBA shipments, with Amazon putting it in “Investigation completed” status to prevent me from asking to find them. But until now it was only a few units missing from plans containing 500 to 800 items.
But this time I shipped 8 tables, each in its own box. So I have a waybill document and POD for 8 boxes, but Amazon counts only 7 tables received, and put the missing one in “Investigation completed” status.
I don’t know how to interpret this, except that it makes it harder to make money when items vanish. Can a table disappear into a black hole in an Amazon warehouse?

Given the size of their estate i’d have to say yes. The black hole does seem to spit stuff out too sometimes though.

It’s a bit early for an “April’s Fool” joke:
Do you think that FBA staff steal from sellers’ inventory?
Do you really think it would be possible for a member of staff to just “walk out” with a table under his arm and not be noticed by the billions of cameras everywhere in a fulfilment centre? Every workplace, no matter how large or small, has some level of “pilfering”, for want of a better word; whether it’s a few pens, a stapler, some batteries and so on. However, in this case, it is more likely to be down to human error.
There are millions and millions of items in FC’s and it is therefore inevitable that things will go missing. In 7 years of being here (and 5 of using FBA) I have never had a single item go missing, not one. However, a good few have been damaged and some (don’t ask me how) have been “miraculously” added to the inventory when I didn’t even send them into the FC in the first place. It’s more likely to be just errors.
This is not to take away the obvious seriousness of you losing stock and not being reimbursed, of course but that is a different matter which also needs to be addressed. If you have proof of delivery and receipt into the system, then that should be sufficient.

I’d say yes. Same as stock in bricks and mortar shops gets pilfered by staff.
