Delivery Date Based Reserve

Anyone else get this? We don’t have any reserve on our account at present and in the many many years we have been selling on Amazon, never have had so I am unsure whether it would be applied to our account as it says ‘your base reserve policy’.

Hello,

_Starting August 3, 2023, in order to unify base reserve policies for all selling partners, your base reserve policy will change to a “Delivery Date Based Reserve.” _

A base reserve policy is one of the factors that determines your Account Level Reserve, which is the amount of money that Amazon reserves to ensure that you have enough funds to fulfil any refunds, claims or chargebacks from buyers. Delivery Date Based Reserve is our worldwide standard for selling partner accounts since 2016 and determines when your funds become available for disbursement.

While your current base reserve policy uses the shipment confirmation date to determine how long funds are held in reserve, the Delivery Date Based Reserve policy uses the delivery date of an order. When you use an integrated shipping provider, we will use the actual delivery date of the order. In the absence of valid tracking data, we will use the latest estimated delivery date. This policy change may cause a one-time cash flow disruption until the new reserve is built up and funds become available for disbursement according to the estimated or confirmed delivery date.

Changing to Delivery Date Based Reserve will allow you to run non-Prime deals in the European stores, which are currently limited to sellers on Delivery Date Based Reserve. Note that other eligibility criteria for non-Prime Deals still apply.

The policy change will not affect your disbursement frequency, your ability to “Disburse Now” or the total amount of funds received. This policy change will only defer the availability of your funds according to the delivery date of the order plus seven days.

No action is required from you; the policy change will automatically be initiated on August 3, 2023. To prepare, we recommend evaluating if this change could impact your processes for handling payments from Amazon. We also recommend you ensure that you have enough funds to cover the one-time cashflow disruption and evaluate possible financial support options if required.

what i dont like at all is that if you get suspended for whatever reason your fault or not they have 2 weeks of sales that you may or may not get back!

OK. Some light at the end of the tunnel.

Our automated bi-weekly disbursement has occurred and the ALR has now become Net Proceeds with ZERO ALR currently.

I now expect that FBA and FBM orders moving forward will appear in ALR and then start to filter into a potential increase in Net Proceeds in the last 4 days before the next automatic disbursement.

I may well yet take a leaf out of @The_Little_Shop’s book and start extracting funds on a daily basis once they become available in the coming days.

Thank you for the clarification, i do appear to have this email on the 4th

Hello,

Your seller account now has a Base Reserve policy called “Delivery Date Based Reserve.” This means that your funds will now be available for disbursement according to the delivery date of a shipment, plus seven days.

For example, if you ship an item on January 1, and the delivery date is January 4, the funds will be available for disbursement from January 12.

Previously, your funds were available for disbursement based on the ship date of a shipment. Now, funds will be made available for disbursement based on a shipment’s delivery date. When you use an integrated shipping provider, we’ll use the actual delivery date of the shipment. In the absence of valid tracking data, we’ll use the latest estimated delivery date.

A Base Reserve policy is one of the factors that determines your account level reserve. The account level reserve is the amount of money that we reserve to ensure that you have enough funds to fulfil any financial obligations, including refunds, claims, or chargebacks from buyers.

Since your account now has a “Delivery Date Based Reserve,” you may experience a one-time cash flow disruption. This situation may continue until your account level reserve is built up and funds become available for disbursement according to the estimated or confirmed delivery date.

The policy change doesn’t affect your disbursement frequency, your ability to “Disburse now,” or the total amount of funds received. This policy change only defers the availability of your funds according to the delivery date of the shipment, plus seven days.

However couple of points as we cant disburse its saying 0.00

The email from amazon is waivey, it mentions a base reserve, but it does not say what the base reserve is, is there a way to find the base reserve and how often that will be released?

It also says it does not effect our ability to disburse now, yet i cant make any disbursement and all funds are on hold

thats because its not been 8 or more days since the policy came into force

as your reserve went live on 3rd, and you shipped orders on the 3rd, you won’t get any funds until those orders have been delivered - with another 7 days added on top

ie order despatched 3rd - delivered 6th - funds released 13th

Its actually slightly worse, as funds are held for 7 days, then released on day 8 for disbursement.

Yes why does it take so long to get payments when we caan send a BACs payment immediately. Payments should at the very worse be next day, not 4-5 working days. I noticed our payments from other countries get paid next day so why not from UK?

WOOOO HOOOO Me again! Sarah Butler from the guardian is writing about this today. Please write to her directly as soon as you can as she wants to get it written up. sarah.butler@theguardian.com with the following responses. You can remain anonymous I’m sure she just needs to gather info…

How much money is being held back and for how long?

What does this mean for you personally and the running of your business?

How long have you been trading on Amazon and when were you sent this message?

Have you been told why the reserve was brought in?

Thanks guys, if as many of you that can do this can, that would be great! TIA

This cannot be allowed! Just kicked in for us when we had 1 more Amazon lending payment to make! Now I will not have the funds to pay my staff or the loan payment on time! This is criminal and shouldn’t be allowed. The timing of it is unbelievable!! Seems to me they are purposely trying to kill off small businesses.

We desperately need an alternative. I’ve heard that a company called BuyBox17 has started an application that diverts traffic from Amazon to your website. Supposedly it’s got big investment to help struggling Amazon sellers. I’m on their waiting list. Anything is worth a try to get away from amazon.

When she called her I reiterated a very good point someone on here made that Etsy sellers are seen as artists and Amazon sellers tend to have a different image. I reassured her most of us are the same just a different platform!
