Wholesale enquiry through Amazon
Folks,
I’ve received a wholesale enquiry through Amazon messaging. They are looking for a deal on large quantity. I can’t do this sort of transaction on Amazon.
Any advice? I’m reluctant providing our contact number in case it causes an issue with Amazon. But otherwise I can’t see a way for us to communicate.
Thanks!

If you value your account you’ll delete and move on. Could be a set up, might be genuine…you’ll never know.

Had the same, but not via the Amazon message system, I contacted seller support who said it is likely to be a phising attempt, abd that I should report as spam and delete the message.

Ask yourself who would use Amazon to source stuff wholesale and in bulk…

Actually, people do believe it or not. Amazon are pushing business purchases.
I regularly have offers for large quantities of items. Admittedly, most of the time they are a stupidly cheap and not worth bothering with.
But there is a specific system for people to make offers. So unless it came through that way, then I would suggest that you ignore it.

Why not reply but state that you will only deal with sales through Amazon in order to comply with their policies. make sure you account for any amazon fees and create a specific listing for the customer to purchase, Amazon then get their slice of the pie, you then get your money.
The buyer will decide if its worth it to purchase or not.

You could set up a one time use only discount code for them to use and everyone will be happy.

i would also say offer to create a sale to allow them to purchase properly through amazon and send them a jpeg of your email address aka ebay!

It is possible that you are dealing with a Business buyer.
Amazon’s B2B program offers the option to sell your items wholesale at discounted prices to business customers.

Its my opinion that if you are a ‘bona fide’ trader, you should have your contact phone number and other business details listed so that people CAN contact you for help, support etc.
If you go to our seller page on Amazon, we list a phone number and address, along with company id, registration, vat etc.
If someone contacts us via the phone number, then that’s fine.
If you search the 'net for our store name as shown on amazon, you can find our website, get our phone number etc.
If you are capable of supplying wholesale, then you really should have a website too.
As far as I am aware, you can sell the items you list on amazon anywhere else you want (your website, Ebay, your physical shop etc), you just break the agreement you signed up to if you offer to or accept a request to complete a purchase outside amazon THROUGH THE AMAZON system.
For Example, If I saw an item on amazon from a well known retailer, I could then go off amazon, onto their own shopping site, and buy there, but if I contacted them THROUGH Amazon and asked to buy off site, that would contravene the agreement they signed up to.
correct me if I’m wrong (im sure you will, knowledgeable people)

“I can’t offer wholesale prices ON AMAZON.”
Any buyer with an IQ above 75 might come to the conclusion that they might contact you, but not ON AMAZON.
