Returned item with no label and used
Hello,
I have read some topics and most of you say that the Amazon closes cases on customer’s favour in 99% cases so I am not sure what I should do. The customer returned the item (backpack) without label and item looked as used. The reason for the return was “Item defective or doesn’t work”. When I had asked him before accepted the return if the item had the label still attached and was in a condition that he received it I didn’t get any confirmation of it but two messages from Amazon. First that according to the customer the item had not expected quality and second the item was faulty and the customer wanted the return the item and he expected a pre-paid label. I answered that I was happy to accept the return if the item was with the label still attached and perfect condition and accepted return then. As I mentioned I had received used item without the label. Could you advise what I should do in order not to lose money, not to get negative feedback or just let it go and refund money?

Firstly was it defective? If so how would label make a difference on return?
If it wasn’t defective have you contacted customer regarding further information?
What is the timescale of order to return request?
If it is not defective it may qualify for a partial refund but need more info to give better advice.

The item was new in original packing with original label. I am sure it was in perfect condition when delivered. In my opinion the customer used the item for two weeks and requested the return.

Since you already received the item back, you have the option to refund the buyer after withholding the cost of loss of value.
A-Z claims over partial refunds are usually very easy to get denied or funded by Amazon, as long as you complied with all Amazon policies when processing the return.

Yes, exactly I agree. The item can’t be sold as a new and from my experience, the item in that condition will not be sold for more than 30-40% of the value. In addition, I tried to list in on Amazon as a used but it is not easy. I need to provide a letter from Nike or an invoice from a supplier. So I need to waste time to do something I have already lost money. It was caused by customer action so for the real valuation is £0.
