Help in deleting SKU and readding

I’ve been reading the forums in the background since becoming a new seller on Amazon and I need a little help.
One of my SKUs became randomly stranded at 9am this morning (after being for sale via FBA) It’s a new product and one of our own, I opened a case with SS and their advice was to remove the SKU and re add with the same SKU. Great, problem solved or so I thought…
When clicking on delete products and listings for the SKU in question it deletes the WHOLE asin and associated product page. We have A+ content on there which also flags up an error saying the ASIN doesn’t exist.
If I recreate the product and use the ASIN it then brings it back almost instantaneously so I’m at a loss as to what’s going on here. It even populates most of the fields and doesn’t lose the listing images. The A+ Content is put straight back to the ASIN.
This has never happened before and while waiting for SS to reply I thought I’d ask you lovely lot.

Deleting an asin and sku only deletes your offer - the asin remains in the catalogue
They should’ve told you to leave it 24 hours before relisting though
And you must use the same sku
Not sure tbh how deleting and relisting fixes stranded stock, often you can just refresh to the reason
