Does IOSS apply to me?

I saw IOSS mentioned a lot but didnt pay attention as we closed down all EU sales channels.

All stock is held in UK.

Customer bought from Denmark total value of £168 via amazon.co.uk

We shipped it using parcelmonkey international shipping and had to select “I do not have an IOSS number” though there was an option “I sold this on Ebay.”

Im not really sure what all this means. I guess I should have paid attention to the IOSS thing.

Does it apply for sales this way?

Why does ebay appear to have an exemption or its own number but not amazon?

Will customer have to face VAT charge?

will parcel possibly be held by customs?

IOSS on marketplace sites is only for sales with value up to 150 EUROs. If it’s over that like yours is then when the sale is on Amazon you need to use a Delivered Duties Paid shipping service to make sure that there are no customs or import fees for the buyer to face.

Ebay UK has the IOSS number IM2760000742, Amazon UK has IM4420001201, but you should only use them when the order details pages tell you that the respective site collected the Tax.

If you send the parcel using a non-Delivered Duties Paid service they will be asked for import fees, handling fees etc.

Unless the recipient pays the charges, yes.

okay so amazon sale page does not mention VAT - it is blank so I guess I have an issue with this.

It was under 150 euro excluding VAT. Shipping puts is over though. No mention of VAT on the page, it is blank under VAT and no mention of IOSS. Buyer is not a business customer.

VAT rate for item here is 20% and Denmark it seems is 25%

It will have this at the top of the order page if Amazon have collected the VAT. If not you’ll have to send it DDP which will most likely have yo go through a broker.

I can see now that All parcels sent through Parcel Monkey are sent Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU)

You’ll need a customs broker (like World Options) or take the hit and cancel the order. You can’t send Amazon orders DDU.

I have the odd parcel sent back of items from the countries customs sold through Amazon showing IOSS numbers and correct values of items on C&D with values of £10.00 to £30.00 sent to Germany complete with copies of letters sent to receiver asking for more money
