Amazon Manufacturing Counterfeit Products?

by Seller_9EYq9cw5M11TH

We have recently received a Product Authenticity Customer Complaint for a second-hand book that was an Amazon print on demand copy. The quality of these books is poor in comparison to most mass manufactured books on the market and this can cause scepticism of its authenticity amongst customers, understandably. We will now longer stock these Amazon books where possible.

However, how can Amazon condemn the book for being counterfeit when they themselves manufactured it? If the item is counterfeit and Amazon made it, ergo, Amazon are accusing themselves of piracy.

All attempts to appeal to seller support are futile, and due to the book being second hand, we cannot provide invoices from distributors or manufacturers. What are we realistically expected to do in this situation which is ultimately Amazon fault? Input from moderators would be greatly appreciated.

You use the counterfeit term

The best term in Pirate copy if this the case

ITs a question if the book is in Copyright and has the copyright owner

given permission to print or has just some one thought that

book long out of print l think l'll reprint with out permission. and signed it up to Amazon print connect in that case Amazon is not the guilty party and they normally would ask the person setting the POD request to cover any piracy cases UK copy right last 70 years and has been mid-80s.

Without the iSBN of the book your talking about. It cannot said if a Historical (Out of copyright) reprint or a pirate.

When listing you should always point out your copy is Reprint. Some of the early reprint POD were dreadful with pages out sequence Pictures missing and print blurr pages out of register etc It has Improved a lot in last 15 years.

We occasionally come across these PoDs, & if they are worth listing, always make it clear in our description what it is, so any buyer would be aware of what they will be getting. Of course, that makes the rash assumption that buyers actually read the descriptions........
