Definitions for ASIN, SKU, GTIN - click to read
ASIN - Amazon Standard Identification Number
SKU - Stock Keeping Unit
GTIN - Global Trade Item Number
GTIN Examples
- Universal Product Code (UPC)
- International Standard Book Number (ISBN)
- European Article Number (EAN)
- Japanese Article Number (JAN)
I think you mean ASIN instead of SKU. The SKU is just what you assign for internal inventory management. The ASIN is what Amazon uses for the pages.
To create a new product listing on Amazon you either need a GTIN and a brand name. If you do not have a GTIN you can request an exemption.
Note: It is a policy violation to rebrand a product or if the brand is someone else’s to assign your own GTIN to the product.

In addition to what Oneida has recommended, which is all sound advice, it’s unlikely that an existing product is not already somewhere on Amazon’s catalogue (unless you’re making it yourself). If it’s a manufactured product, it will/should have a 13-digit barcode on the label or packaging, like those you find on just about anything you buy. When you go to your “Manage inventory -> Add a product” page, enter that number in the search box (just the digits, no spaces or dashes) and if you get a match, add your product to the listing. You can set your own SKUs when you do this, so you can enter “Claspblue” or whatever you want to help identify it in your inventory and orders. If you don’t choose your own SKU, Amazon will allocate one at random
